Earlier this week, Apple announced the features of the forthcoming firmware update for the iPhone, OS 3.0. The new operating system will incorporate over a hundred new features, from multimedia messaging to modem tethering. In addition to detailing the major functional updates at the press conference this week, Apple demonstrated how the new software will benefit third-party application developers, who create and sell apps via the iTunes App Store. With the implementation of several key functional improvements for the iPhone, app developers will be able to greatly expand the services offered by their applications.
Although the new OS won't be out until later this summer, IGN has compiled a list of few existing apps that could potentially be greatly improved by OS 3.0.
