Killzone 2, Does it have longevity?

GNZ:

"Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past month, Killzone 2 is Sony's First Person Shooter that has taken the gaming media by storm. Now that everyone has had the time to play for a while now, the question is, will it have the legs to keep up with the likes of other high selling First Person Shooters?

Probaly like the other majority of other PS3 users, I got my copy on Day 1. Felt like damn forever waiting for this game to come out, and now this 4 year old trailer tease is here. Game lives up to the trailer, and even surpasses it in some areas but falls short in a couple. Graphics are WOW, but the single and multiplayer gameplay feel empty."

damn killzone 2 hype is dead and gone

ToastyMcNibbles3440d ago

who the hell cares about hype when people are playing the game worldwide and enjoying themselves?

talltony3440d ago

for every single game after its released even if its the best game of its time.

infamousinfolite3440d ago

MGS4, after its release, still had a alot of hype coming from me. The game is still amazing.

GiantEnemyCrab3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

Well, the hype is definitely died down but it's a solid game so why not?

I hope Sony and GG are as forthcoming with their online numbers as say Bungie or Infinity Ward. Going by their past I would say if they aren't good they will conveniently be forgotten or will take a bit for Sony to get the right spin on them.

Looking at the online servers right now there doesn't seem to be a shortage of games or players.

Johnny Rotten3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

As of last week there were 600,000 different different people who played online (in total), now there's 684,000 (in total).

Last week 214,000 people played online.

http://www.killzone.com/kz/...

Droid Smasha3440d ago

and only 180k so far this week. the numbers have been going down

GiantEnemyCrab3439d ago

ack! I totally forgot about killzone.com and all the stat tracking. Thanks Johnny. The numbers have been going down but like I said plenty of people playing it.

The game is brilliant both offline and online from what I've played. I have all the single player trophies and need to start climbing the online ranks.

news4noobs3439d ago

those are pathetic figures compared to how many ppl play on XBL. even old games on the 360 generate way higher figures than that.

Killzone 2 is a grenade and camp fest to me. Fun game if you want a quick blast like COD4 but no where near as in depth or tactical as Halo 3 or CS.

My opinion.

ToastyMcNibbles3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

i dont know about the whole tactical thing but any shooter can be tactical...it really boils down to the players...if your in a team who are committed to communication and working together calculating moves and what not.. isnt that tactical?...i think it depends on the people you play with cuz i can play halo right now and have no communication and teamwork whatsoever...then again i guess it depends on how you define tactical

Blaze9293440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

I agree with the author. I got my copy of Killzone two days early before the release date and played the hell out of it, mostly in multiplayer. Only got up to level 3 in the campaign, honestly couldnt find any motivation to continue it. So I spent all my time in multiplayer, it was fun for awhile...but now i dont even feel like playing the game. And honestly, the thought of selling it crossed my mind more than once.

Longevity? No, not in MY OPINION.

EDIT:

apparently someone disagrees with an OPINION...oh wait...this is N4G! Where review scores mean life or death by the very same people disagreeing.

ToastyMcNibbles3440d ago

i honestly think its a case of people always looking forward to the next big thing...everything dies out so quickly for many people but it doesnt mean they arent people out there that constantly play the game all day every day...i understand what youre saying though because at this point im really shootered out...im so sick of first person shooter games right now lol i love killzone 2 but good lord i cannot wait to try fresh games like infamous and heavy rain...i have a pretty big collection of games...36 to be exact...im constantly looking forward to the next big game and i think i have to start slowing down a bit and really enjoy each game at a time because i think the good/bad thing with me is...i can afford every game that i want and i do buy them but the bad part is that i am overwhelmed and cannot take my time with each game because i wanna go back and forth between games

Hallucinate3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

god forbid someone disagrees with your opinion...cause you know that little disagree system isnt a fact thing..belive it or not disagreeing is opinion aswell *gasps* you fit nicly into that whole fanboy thought process 'deerrr meh oponionzies iz teh factorz
also i cant belive how many people take the agree/disagree system so seriously..

cactuschef3440d ago

Don't you people know you aren't supposed to disagree with someones opinion?

For me, killzone 2 loses its tactics/fun in large games. It always ends up with spawn grenades next to the other teams spawn, and grenade spamming. I find that medium sized games are more enjoyable and run at a better pace.

morganfell3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

I like HALO. A lot. But the depth of the Killzone 2 Multiplayer, the choices, badges, and upgrades easily surpass HALO 3 or any other current shooter. Badges and ribbons allow a very potent RPG quality into multiplayer. These specialties and strengths can be altered on the fly.

If you are not in the officer ranks then you likely have no idea of the breadth of this system. This article comes off as someone that played Killzone 2 for a day and then called it quits. Killzone 2 does have an initial steepness that results in a great many bloody noses until you reach the rank of Sergeant and unlock your first weapons and then Master Sergeant and a similar action occurs. Along the way you may begin to accumulate badges due to actions in the game that result in the awarding of a ribbon on 8 occasions. Until you can actually badge a specialty then you have little idea of the tactics involved in choices alone.

These choices, badges, and classes actually drive player tactics or the reverse - are made to support tactics. This is a great deal more encompassing and game changing than running around in Recon Armor.

As regards maps they are more intricate than anything HALO offers. Also the squad system that allows players to form a 4 man squad withing the 16 man platoon, spawn on the squad leader and have their own voice channel takes this far beyond a game I really like - HALO 3.

Sorry, but your argument that HALO offers more tactical depth is a piece of groundless wishlisting. It doesn't. That isn't fanboyism, it is game design. It is a game design that intentionally promotes tactics and lies at the very core of Killzone 2 Multiplayer.

Quite honestly the article must be considered to be fairly ignorant considering that the nature of the first DLC for Killzone 2 has yet to be revealed. One must also realize that GG is now taking another look at Co-op. Finally the first patch response to KZ2 MP issues was at lightspeed compared to the pondwater motion provided by Epic to answer problems with their recent shooter.

Bnet3433440d ago

I like the campaign better than the multiplayer, but I do think Killzone 2 will have longevity. The ranking system + trophies make it a nice game to keep and continue playing for a while.

JsonHenry3440d ago

I played multiplayer for like 5 days straight. Played about 3-4 hours of campaign... and have not touched it since.

But I am sure that some people are still playing the hell out of it. Just not me. I think I am gonna trade it in for RE5.

jaysquared3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

Got a buddy who bought a PS3 for this game but after two weeks he ended up returning the PS3 and selling the game at gamestop..He didn't really the like the game online but loved the singleplayer.. He decided to just stick with his 360 even though its crapped out on him 3 times already! He says PSN was nice for being free but he would rather stay on XBL because it was a better community and all of the extra features it comes with. Guess to him the $40-$50 a year is worth it compared to being free..

morganfell3440d ago

People also need to come into Killzone 2 not expecting HALO or COD4. The game is far more unforgiving of stupidity and lonewolf players than either of those titles.

The word that best describes the matches in KZ2 is BRUTAL. Anyone that has actually played Killzone has seen this and beginners are usually on the receiving end of that brutality.

0verdrive3440d ago

lol this article is astoundingly stupid.

kz2 has the same draw of the cod series, plus a little more, in my opinion. i admit that immediately after i finished leveling up i was a bit nervous about replay value, but i soon remembered what exactly makes the game fun. the game is not about leveling up, its about freaking killing people! i mean, look how many people STILL play cod4, and that game is two years old. despite the fact that there are prestige classes, all the cod4 vets are all pretty maxed out on level, and they still play, just to fcking kick ass. on top of that, after you max out levels, there are still second abilities to unlock and badges and medals to obtain. after more than 50 hours, i still have yet to get more than a single "air support" badge. 5 air kills in a game is near impossible! but i digress... leveling up is fun, but games like CS have survived for literally like, 10 years without any need for leveling up; it is completely optional for longevity. what is going to give the game longevity is CLAN BATTLES. i get it that right now and probably for maybe another month public games are all the rage, but when people are going to start getting to clans, and clan battles are going to get really big, THAT is when the game is going to get really tactical. trying to work with 15 other strangers is near impossible, and to argue that there is not tactics to the game because of it is utterly stupid. play with 15 friends or clan members and it gets SERIOUS. tactics and strategy is going to really heat up when clan battles come into play, way more so than halo or cod4, because the skills in kz2 really encourage tactical play.

so in short, kz2 has longevity, and will have even more when clan battles become big.

3440d ago
Bonsai12143440d ago

i actually haven't figured out how to change class while playing... (maybe i haven't unlocked more than one... lol)

but yeah, the class system keeps things fresh. its like wolfenstein. people still play that today because of the job system.

plus its not a grenade fest if you play on a server with FF turned on. though i do get tired of idiots spraying me in the back.

littletad3440d ago

I'm waiting on multiplayer till they fix the controls, their that bad in my opinion. I understand the need for realism, but despite that this is still a video game. They should have left the sluggish controls on the campaign only giving a very modern feel of warfare, and that's why the campaign is great. In multiplayer, I feel like every kill I make or every death I get is a spot of luck, not accuracy or tactic.

Shepherd 2143440d ago

What he means is, the actual core gameplay of Halo 3 requires more depth than Killzone 2. And it does. Hell, even Counterstrike has more depth than Killzone 2.

Your little rant about the squad formation thing in KZ2 being superior to what Halo 3 offers is not very well thought out. You really think that a bunch of friends playing Halo 3 or any FPS online ccouldnt just join up and make a rag-tag squad of their own? Then go on and try to achieve their objective of protecting the always weaponless flag carrier in Halo 3? Or planting the bomb in the enemies base? Its easy, me and my friends do it all the time.

Not to mention, Halo 3 has a more "sport-like" style to it, you need to know when to jump, how to jump, how many shots it takes to take down the enemy's shield when shooting the body or how many when shooting at the head, how to bounce grenades off of the ground and walls, how many melees it takes to kill someone, or predicting the Battle Rifle bullet spread at long distances. etc. And that has nothing to do with vehicles or power equipment. All this is MLG and pro stuff, knowing small things like this is what makes you better than the average player. Halo might have simple controls and simple goals but its anything but simple if you want to be really really good

morganfell3440d ago

As soon as you said Counterstrike has more depth you disqualified anything else you said. I like Counterstrike for what it is and it has it's own tactics but it hardly requires the same amount of forethought or coordination.

And thanks for making my point for me. Planting the bomb in the enemies base in HALO is exceptionally easy. Not so easy to plant charges and guard them in Killzone 2. It requires a great deal more effort and coordination. And getting it done is a great deal more bloody.

You can just join up asyou stated but HALO 3 doesn't allow a system that makes it possible to stay with that squad by providing a private squad voice channel automatically and allowing spawning on the squad leader - that helps keep said squad together. I won't say nice try because it wasn't. The comment fails.

Killzone 2 isn't about being a sport. It's about bloody combat. What you call sport is really just learning the intricacies of a game as it was programmed. This may be a shock but every game has such details that are required to go from a competent player to a great player.

The biggest mistake that Bungie made started in the first HALO by taking the combat outside the HALO canon. Spartans killing Spartans? The HALO universe is a wonderful creation and the books are filled with some remarkable and engrossing combat, as are the games. Sadly this storyline is tossed out the window in Multiplayer. So your sport comment fails as well.

For a game that has a multitude of vehicles, commenting that it has nothing to do with vehicles is absurd. Take the most famous map in HALO history. One that began as Blood Gulch. Vehicles matter.

Weapons in Killzone have every bit the depth. Only now you have to strive for them. You have to organize your platoon from the get go to balance medics, engineers, snipers, etc. It isn't just about who got to the one sniper rifle first. In actual military units you have specialties and KZ2 allows this as well. And it allows you to change these specialties in the match to respond to a changing dynamic. Maybe the comprehension of that is too much for some people.

Understanding the ability to control terrain in Killzone 2 even during non territory modes tops HALO 3 easily. You see it isn't just weapons in Killzone 2 that matter.

There is just so much to to the Multiplayer in KZ 2 that frankly there will be some that simply do not get the need for C2, tactical thought, coordination, and planning.

On top of all this is a system that supports clans and clan tournaments and there frankly isn't a structure around that does what the KZ2 and Killzone.com setup permits and encourages. The fact that there is something besides prestige on the line during clan matches was a great idea as well. There really is little left to be said. People either get it or they do not.

INehalemEXI3439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

Im keeping my copy, and investing in the DLC. Already put in a good # of hours and look forward to more, I got other things I play and got to try, but Im always going to come back 4 more KZ2.

I also agree with morganfell, I think some folks play a bit of KZ2 and think they know the depths of which it goes to but no , they are clearly noob.

I love video games3439d ago

i already traded mine in, 3 years of waiting for 3 weeks of playing, but the graphics are nice

Ju3439d ago

Progressing towards the classes changes the game quite a bit. Before I thought the medic could be my role. Boy was I wrong since I have the tactician. Changing roles became a strategy and can be a secret to success in the game. Put a spawnpoint, switch to spawn some turrets and then go heal people. Don't recall I've seen that before. And its quite tactical, I would say.

XxZxX3439d ago

Lex Luthor, I believe you just havent seriously play Killzone 2 or I don't know did u even owned them. The only reason you see that's no tactic is because u can't come up with one or you are still news to it.
Once you familiar with the map, that's all the tactic come in.

Also COD4 has no tactic depth? my goodness, somebody just open himself for some a** whooping.

ThanatosDMC3439d ago

Wow, i guess these people havent play KZ2 yet. They're really missing out. Oh well, price drop should be coming soon i hope they get to buy a PS3.

The "learning curve" in KZ2 is comparable to Warhawk. If you just started, you will get slaughtered.

jammy_703439d ago

if you aint good than it does

im good :)

Shepherd 2143439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

you really think its that easy to plant the bomb on Avalanche, a huge map that takes a while to even get across, much less make it past the Hornets, Warthog Turrets, spartan lasers, and snipers? WHo do you play with? If you play against good people, it will be hard with any game. Yeah, thats what i thought.

About Counterstrike, id love to see you play against a really good CS player, it would make my day. Strafing, reflexes, speed, aiming, crouching, everything that i KNOW you couldnt compete against. I barely can either its ok.

Who wants story in multiplayer? Story is for the single player, not multiplayer. Spartans vs Spartans is classic, and perfectly fine. Bungie has earned its right to make their multiplayer however the hell they want, and MILLIONS who log on every day to play Halo 3 agree with me. Halo 3 is still top dog. You have to be pretty shallow to criticize Halo 3 for making spartans vs spartans again. Thats the least of most people's worries when it comes to Halo 3's features, believe me. And like i said, i could care less. I love Halo 3 and it deserves every bit of praise it has gotten. Halo 3 is the most played online console game 2 years after release. Bungie obviously did alot of things right. And you cant say they didnt. Maybe many people bought halo 3 off of hype, but if its MP was bad, people wouldnt still play it 2 years later. People dont play games they dont think are good. it just doesnt happen.

To address your squad point again, if you need an actual, official system to get a squad together, thats kinda pathetic. Sorry but your comment fails. Any game can consist of lone wolves running off alone, and any game is capable of getting quick groups together to go and get stuff done. KZ2 is no better.

the weapons in KZ2 may be unique in some ways, but its just one of those games where you aim down the sights, and easily kill people in a few shots. COD style. ANd many of the weapons just have random spreads like most COD weapons, spray and pray when your close, easily kill people by aiming when far.

Actually, the biggest thing that KZ2 fails at is class based system. It completely takes away strategy on the map. In Halo 3, you have a default weapon all all other weapons spawn on the map. that alone is more strategic than KZ2. Games like Gears and Halo that require you to actually have to go and fight for the good weapons are better than COD and KZ2. You have to work a good quick strategy with your team to fight and get the rocket launcher, sword, sniper, etc. in KZ2 you sinply spawn with the exact weapon you want. Wow. Strategic. Now you and many others spawned as the sniper class and you ready to uber pwn the other team. Woot woot.

And i know why you like KZ2. Its because its easy. Its slow paced, slow to move, slow to look around, no fast jumping or running or anything involved. Easy for guys with crappy reflexes to play. Not like CS, or Halo, or COD, or Unreal Tournament, or Quake, etc.

KZ2 has amazing graphics, everything else is just average man, accept it. There are many, many better FPS's out there.

You guys thought Resistance 2 was the best FPS ever a few months ago, now its KZ2, and it wont belong before everyone thinks the next PS3 FPS is better.

3439d ago
rockleex3439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

When I play Halo 3, I don't see how there's any tactics or skills involved. Why? Its not that there's no depth to Halo 3. Its just because I haven't played it a lot. Although I understand how the gameplay mechanics work, I haven't mastered them yet.

It wouldn't make sense for me to say Halo 3 has no strategy JUST because I haven't spent enough time on it.

Now... when I see a noob play COD4, I'll be thinking to myself how stupid they are for not taking advantage of a situation, etc. But to that noob, he probably doesn't realize that there's much more to COD4 than running around and shooting people.

But that noob's merely going through what I went through with Halo 3. Same situation, different games.

The same thing applies to Killzone 2. If you don't spend enough time on it, you'll never fully realize the depth to its gameplay. You'll think you "got it" already, but you don't!

Please invest valuable time into Killzone 2(or any other game) and try your best to figure out its depth before you come and spout how little there is to its gameplay.

phosphor1123439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

So much of your comment made me cringe.

"you really think its that easy to plant the bomb on Avalanche, a huge map that takes a while to even get across, much less make it past the Hornets, Warthog Turrets, spartan lasers, and snipers? WHo do you play with? If you play against good people, it will be hard with any game. Yeah, thats what i thought."

It can be easy to be honest. Since bomb does not reset quickly, a teammate can pick up the bomb and it will reset the timer. Progression in assault mode CAN be achieved by one or two people. I've done it several times with just my brother and I. My brother was acting more of cannon fodder than anything else. In KZ2, you NEED a team to win in Search and Destroy. You need a Tactician for spawn points, you need medics to keep the flow of battle going, you need those heavies to lob those rockets and nades in there, turrets covering your flank and position is also a must. You can't do it alone, its NOT POSSIBLE.

-------------------------

"About Counterstrike, id love to see you play against a really good CS player, it would make my day. Strafing, reflexes, speed, aiming, crouching, everything that i KNOW you couldnt compete against. I barely can either its ok."

I know you were saying that to Morganfell, but after playing CAL-Main on CS 1.6 for about 5 years, the game can be broken down into very simple tasks. Flank, cover, buy/save money, and objective(which was plant bomb, if you were in a tournament), oh and never be alone, that's a disaster in a 5 man scrimmage. Smallest groups you should ever break down to is a 3-2 split (that how its done most of the time too, cuz its closest thing to even).

---------------------------

"the weapons in KZ2 may be unique in some ways, but its just one of those games where you aim down the sights, and easily kill people in a few shots. COD style. ANd many of the weapons just have random spreads like most COD weapons, spray and pray when your close, easily kill people by aiming when far."

While you may not like the guns, I find them to be ALMOST as balanced as the weapons on Warhawk (which are perfect in every way, cept the standard pistol is gimp). Anyway, of course spread is based on movement, recoil and what not, so its not "random" as it is procedural, based off of other factors. No gun in KZ2 is really capable of pulling off a spray-n-pray due to the sheer amount of recoil you will obtain, even with the SMG (which you maybe referring too?), you maybe hitting them all over, but a SMG can only do so much damage. Every other gun in that game, you NEED some sort of aim to hit someone, even nade launcher. The only one that kind of doesn't follow that rule is the rocket launcher which only holds 3 rockets.

----------------------------- ---------

"Actually, the biggest thing that KZ2 fails at is class based system. It completely takes away strategy on the map. In Halo 3, you have a default weapon all all other weapons spawn on the map. that alone is more strategic than KZ2. Games like Gears and Halo that require you to actually have to go and fight for the good weapons are better than COD and KZ2. Now you and many others spawned as the sniper class and you ready to uber pwn the other team. Woot woot."

You prefer arcade, I prefer tactical. Which comes to this. Planning a route to get to the best weapons =/= a winning team. That mainly causes choke points at areas you really don't need to be bothering with. Why fight for the sword or sniper on Halo 3 when you can easily take out the Sword with any other weapon?? Same for sniper, as long as you don't use a shotgun/assault rifle long range...that's just dumb. KZ2's class system is almost comparable to TF2, and the game can have just as much organized chaos as TF2 IF NOT MORE. The more classes, the more tactical you will have to be to suffice the needs of the team as a whole. I love sniping, I usually get a 4:1 KD ratio but if my team needs a spawn point and they don't have one, I will provide one, and that will make it so not am I only killing the enemy, but my team wont need to run half the map distance to get to an objective.

----------------------------- ---

"And i know why you like KZ2. Its because its easy. Its slow paced, slow to move, slow to look around, no fast jumping or running or anything involved. Easy for guys with crappy reflexes to play. Not like CS, or Halo, or COD, or Unreal Tournament, or Quake, etc."

Serious? I've played CS, UT (original), UT 2004, UT3, Quake 3, DOD, DOD:S and Tribes 2 COMPETITIVELY. Killzone 2 is NOT slow. Get your sh!t straight. If you want "slow" play DOD, or Red Orchestra. Even then, they aren't slow in their own sense. The only "fast paced" thing about CS is that its quick to die once in combat. Other than that, you work your way up to an objective, a rush during a scrimmage is pure fail and loss.

--------------------------

"KZ2 has amazing graphics, everything else is just average man, accept it. There are many, many better FPS's out there."

Average? No, polished? Yes. KZ2 brought really nothing new to the table, but for the FPS genre, it took all major components and made them better, accept it. Also taste of FPS's is based off of opinion.

----------------------------- ------

"You guys thought Resistance 2 was the best FPS ever a few months ago, now its KZ2, and it wont belong before everyone thinks the next PS3 FPS is better."

Resistance 2 was the best FPS game I have played on console. I've spent over 50 hours on Co-op alone. It was like playing WoW again but in FPS form. There are many things to be fixed in R2 MP, but for the game that was presented, it was a damn fine one. When KZ2 came out it gave me the most fun I have played in an online MP in years. Not exaggerating. For being 19, I've played over 500 games and own over 350 (collectively with my brother), I know what is a great game fundamentally, and what game is broken, and KZ2 is a great game...

------------------

One more thing...Anyone remember Unreal Championship 2 for xbox? Epic needs to dump a franchise to revive that one. It was the greatest FPS of last generation, hands down. If you have an xbox, buy it play it, love it, because I know you will.

BUKKAKALYPSE3439d ago

Lex Luther is bang on in his post. Nice job..glad someone can see through the Sony logo and the nice KZ graphics.

@ morganfell - the way you talk about Halo makes everyone believe you don't know what you're talking about. Thanks for trying I guess

morganfell3439d ago

phosphor112, I am not even going to attempt to add to that. Wonderful writeup and very thorough.

phosphor1123439d ago

Thanks..lol. I've always wanted a perfect moment to put my two cents into N4G. I mean..I've played a lot of games..that's why I'm going for a Computer Science major, so I can make them myself.

Sigh, my hand is cramped though. My right hand is usually on the mouse, not the keyboard haha.

If anyone wants to question my integrity, just ask away.

Arnon3439d ago

"But the depth of the Killzone 2 Multiplayer, the choices, badges, and upgrades"

There are no upgrades in Killzone 2. There's only 10 ranks. Half of the badges are only useful if you have not hit General rank yet. The only thing that separates it from any multiplayer is the fact that you can combine perks.. and that really isn't much.

Halo 3's multiplayer just completely destroys Killzone 2. 50 ranks for each multiplayer type. 36 different weapons to be used in multiplayer. 24 maps. And a crazy selection of multiplayer variations.

Sorry, but no. Halo 3 > Killzone 2 in the multiplayer department.

morganfell3439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

Sorry but there are upgrades. When you begin as a basic infantry soldier and then at Sergeant unlock two additional weapons, that is an upgrade. When you get a new ability, that is an upgrade to your character that is there for your to choose. When you unlock the Medic ability, Engineer, Tactician, Sniper, etc, that is an upgrade you can choose for your basic soldier. That is why I said the MP has an RPG quality. You wasted your time, that was not even a valiant attempt.

Believe it or not I do like HALO. But HALO MP is badminton and Killzone 2 is a UFC fight with steel embedded cestus.

Arnon3439d ago

I disagree Morganfell.. I believe those are just unlockables. And the way you get new weapons is through your ranks. The only thing you unlock from using a class specifically is new perks and whatnot.

NickIni3439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

"no where near as in depth or tactical as Halo 3"

Please say, that was sarcasm. Please.

Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot - Hit with gun - throw odd grenade = Halo Strategy.

I'm not saying any other FPS is any more tactical, but to say Halo 3 is tactical...

INehalemEXI3439d ago (Edited 3439d ago )

Nah weapons are ulocked according to class too. Since there are class specific weapons, alot of class specific weapons.

Only noobs think KZ2 is less tactical then Halo etc. It's funny that there's always something people would like to b!tch about. In reality there are pros and cons to each game and no one game does everything the best not even KZ2...though it came close. Still its one of the greatest IMO. Fact is KZ2 would have 90% more love and only 10% of the hate it sees if it were a PC title.

How do I know , Crysis MP was meh and there was only 1% of the complaints KZ2 sees. KZ2 MP has already seen alot more hrs from me then Crysis MP,Halo 3, and Gears. Its up to preference though if a games going to have longevity to you.

Ju3439d ago

So what, xp multiplier is not an upgrade ? Means a kill now counts 3x ? Sure you can't kill faster, but you still make 3 times the points.

Arnon3438d ago

Rofl you took a bubble for that? Uh ok.. Anyways. Those aren't upgrades. Those come with the classes. Such as the Scout. It comes with the Sniper Rifle. It's not really an upgrade, since you unlock it. And you can only use it with the Scout class unless you find one on the ground.

All games require a certain amount of skill. Some games require more skill than others. Killzone 2 just takes mores skill to play than Halo 3 , Gears of war and COD4.

While Halo 3 may be fun it's racing game to see who can get the best weapons. Halo also has auto aim assist. While Gears of War has no Auto Aim but again your are in a race to see who an get the better weapons and the Pace is slow. Cod is a fast pace campers paradise game that requires even less skill to play . It too has Auto aim.

Your statements about "And i know why you like KZ2. Its because its easy. Its slow paced, slow to move, slow to look around, no fast jumping or running or anything involved. Easy for guys with crappy reflexes to play. Not like CS, or Halo, or COD, or Unreal Tournament, or Quake, etc."

I can tell you have never played Killzone. Killzone is faster than COD4 and slower than Unreal Tournament. You also have to have good eye and hand coordination to really be good because there is no Auto Aim.
So you really think Halo requires fast reflexes? IF you take out the Auto Aim then that would make your statement true.

You Wrote:
"About Counterstrike, id love to see you play against a really good CS player, it would make my day. Strafing, reflexes, speed, aiming, crouching, everything that i KNOW you couldnt compete against. I barely can either its ok."

FYI: As far as reflexes you can't compare PC mouse games to console controller games. and Halo has always had Auto Aim. They just toned it down more on Halo 3. I also have very fast reflexes and yes I'm that good. If you play me I will no be standing still. I move left and right and shoot at the same time. Games like COD4 and Halo have Auto Aim assist so noobs don't need to learn how to aim and shoot.

NO AUTO AIM FTW

Is gamernewz101 a good site?
Am I tired of seeing these articles?
Why do I go to N4G?

Adding question marks at the end of headlines is really annoying. So is this article.

Stop trying to trash K2. It's getting annoying.

Bnet3433440d ago

Killzone 2 gets trashed just like every other game. Believe me when I say Killzone 2 isn't the only victim. To be honest this isn't that bad. It's a simple question. Trashing Killzone 2 is asking "Can Killzone 2 save the PS3?" or somewhere along those lines. Actually that was trashing PS3, but you get where I am going with this.

I noted this in another thread. The horrible writing abilities displayed by some of these children is pathetic, and it includes these annoying titles ("Is blah blah blah [insert link-whoring implication here]?"). Please, N4G...enough of these "articles" written by children.

"gamernewz101". Good lord. Or should I say "g00d L0Rdz OMG LOLZ!!!!one!!1"?

The multiplayer is great and is going strong. THe thing many ppl. arent getting is that this game is meant to be played as a TEAM game. It's very tactical.

You can run and gun solo too, sure...but you won't live as long nor will have as much fun.

Blaze9293440d ago

but kinda hard to play as a team when majority of your team doesnt own a microphone.

LeonSKennedy4Life3440d ago

I find most people playing KZ2 do own a mic though.

Bnet3433440d ago

Yes, Blaze makes a good point, but Leon is also correct. Killzone 2 is the only PS3 game I actually found the majority of people to have mics.

0verdrive3439d ago

everyone on socom has a mic, and if they dont, they get called out for not having one.

but yeh, there are a good amount of people on kz2 who have mics, but its turning into xbox live where no one actually uses it as intended, they just talk sh!t and rant into the mic. id rather everyone keep silent, if thats the case.

mics should only be used for teamwork, please.

frostypants3439d ago

I haven't had too many issues. I generally only hear speaking when someone is strategizing over where to drop a spawn point, pointing out that the flag carrier is getting away, or simply to say "thanks" for a revive. One other thing I do hear over the mics is people getting angry when someone wastes a spawn point on a tactically meaningless location, but that's a viable thing to complain about.

I think that once people have some experience and understand the flow of the maps, communication becomes less necessary.

Daoshai3439d ago

Bullshit, majority of people do NOT have mics

I will agree I see more people with mics on kz2 then I do on all the other games I've played on, but no where NEAR the majority.

I've done about 60 hrs worth of online playing and I've never seen half in any game type with mics.
Killzone 2 is still a good game, I'm not sure if it has legs to carry it like COD4 does though, I would bet money COD4 online players will pass KZ2 in another month
