IGN's Top 10 Tuesday: MMO Hopefuls

Find out which franchises should go massively multiplayer. To be clear, an MMO is an online game with a persistent game world. That means, even if you stop playing, the world continues to exist online and evolve. IGN spread the love by embracing a breadth of genres and avoided creating any more fantasy MMOs (sorry Fable!) in order to breathe new life into the growing MMO space. It isn't enough for a franchise to be popular; it has to be made better by offering a massively multiplayer online experience.

I haven't read it yet, but Pokemon better be up there. That game is not only screaming to be made into an MMO, it's slapping Nintendo in the face, hard, for not already having done it. Seriously, do they not see the $potential$ in that?

Edit: Just read it- solid list. I think Naruto also has some potential, but it looks like they just went with popular video game franchises. Anyone who has watched the anime has probably thought about how well it would fit into an MMO. Good post, MMOs interest me a lot. I think there is still A LOT left to be done in that genre.
