Space Invaders is one of the oldest properties in gaming, and there have been a number of sequels, remakes and ports of the classic title over the years. But Taito and Backbone Entertainment's most recent return to the SI drawing board has produced one of the best versions to date.
Space Invaders Extreme was released on Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable in 2008, 30 years after the first Space Invaders arcade cabinets rolled into Japanese arcades. And now the title is making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade. The re-made vertical shooter was highly praised by critics, earning high scores on both handheld platforms by IGN.

Now, a decade later and with Space Invaders hitting its 40th anniversary, Space Invaders Extreme has been revived on PC. It’s roughly based on the Xbox 360 version but with a some major tweaks and quality-of-life enhancements.
