Sony Celebrates a Decade of the PS2 with Custom Sneakers

G4TV writes: "Check out the sweet kicks above. Those are custom Nike Air Force Ones to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PlayStation 2 in Japan.

The 10th Anniversary version of one of the most collectible Air Force Ones features gradient color bleeds on patent leather(!) uppers and standard AF1 liners. Although less than 50 pairs were created, these babies are not numbered. Sony made 'em to give out to company executives, media people, and other important members of society. So no, you probably won't be given a pair...but that doesn't mean you can't get your sneaker-pimp hands on 'em!"

How about celebrating it with a firmware update that let's know...actually play PS2 games on our PS3's for those of us without BC?

No doubt, but one costs them money in trying to get PS2 emulation to work, and the other making sneakers for sneaker collectors to buy, makes them money or goes to charity.

Once you have it you wont really use it that much trust me. The only PS2 games I played on my 80 GB PS3 were RE4 again, GOW2, and SotC. And I had already played RE4 and SotC on the PS2. It would be nice, but I would honestly like for sony to enhance other aspects of the PS3 OS. Like having a party in game, custom avatars, and cross game chat. That would make my PS3 the best console in ALL areas IMO.

I believe SONY did the same thing when the PS1 turned 10. Somehow one of my friends(which is a huge PlayStation staff collector) managed to get a pair of the PS1 air force. I recall the sneakers weren't his size so he never got to wear them lol.

they have a pair of the original PS AF1's at a shop down the street from where I live. I think they are asking like $2500 for them, but they do look cool.:)

Eww holy hell those are ugly.

Nike could have done more than just slap a PS logo on the sides. Pretty lazy.
