Can Transformers: The Game meet fans' expectations?

Transformers: The Game was presented to an underwhelmed crowed of journos yesterday, as the giant-robot action failed to meet high expectations set by the movie.

CVG attended the unveiling with high hopes, after having been impressed by the action-packed trailer of the live-action film. Giant robots, guns, rockets, explosions - it's perfect videogame fodder.

"We were shown a city-based level that demonstrated destructible scenery by having robots smashing through buildings. We were also shown the combat system as two robots squared up to each other.

But the physics engine lacked impact during combat and failed to portray the extreme force you would imagine a punch from a 30-foot robot to have."

Since the movie is not out yet, I wouldn't know if it will be a success or not. Base on the trailors shown so far, I believe that the majority of the core transformers fans will not be satified. It looks drastically different from what we've grown up watching.

But truely there have been like 5 good motion picture to video game translations. So, not overly surprised but extremely disappointed.

I actually think many of the hardcore transformer fans will like the new changes. I mean Megatron had to be done differently...I am sorry but no way to have him transform into a giant hand gun..THAT WOULD HAVE TRULY BEEN STUPID!!

As for the game. Well I am not surprised in the least that the game would show dissappointingly. I mean honestly have we ever really seen a good video game follows a movie story line? No..they have all been let downs. The only good ones are when they depart from the story line and do their own thing and base it off of the movie.

The biggest problem I see with video games that are tie in's to a movie release is the fact that the devs are given hard dates to get the game completed by. This translates into sloppy work, short cuts, and bugs galore because they dont' have time to properly develop the game.

I'm pumped for the movie and just finished getting let down regarding the game like when I first read up on this title I though "Wow if they pull it off it will be [email protected]#KING awesome" but to read the above article with statements such as "But the physics engine lacked impact during combat and failed to portray the extreme force you would imagine a punch from a 30-foot robot to have." It totally took the "wind from my sails"

that directors ego is going to kill the transformers movie, ok i get that megatron as a gun would be mental...but a spark eating vampire robot! give me a break, its a shame the movie and the game will both suck
