Japanese charts: Resident Evil 5 unlocks strong sales

David Jenkins from Gamasutra writes:

"Capcom's Resident Evil 5 has sold almost 400,000 units in its first week on sale in Japan, with the PlayStation 3 version hitting the number one spot with 312,000 unit sales. The Xbox 360 version also performed well at number three, with 79,000 units sold.

Known in Japan as Biohazard, the first week totals for the latest entry in the long-running series are higher than for Resident Evil 4. However, they are significantly lower than the 1 million unit + debuts of Resident Evil 2 and 3 on the original PlayStation." (PS3, Resident Evil 5, Xbox 360)
