Sorry about my description I wasnt trying to "Bash". I just came out that way. But the fact that is actual in game graphics is amazing. Bout time Sony's Big Black Box flex some muscle. I got word from a Game Dev buddy of mine saying this game wont even push the real sweet spot of the cell. However Lair should be boasting the cell alot more than this will. The Smoke,Fire,Water all rendered in Real-Time 3D. Now thats Hot

She looks like Lara Croft. The game looks great, no doubt, but I don't like the character design.
It's not CGI...it's in-game. They've moved a hell of a way since the cinematic production trailer, as that was from footage from October/November last year. ps. the blurring around her face was added simply for the screenshot, so it looked pretty for a back drop. But otherwise they took the screenshot yesterday from their most recent build. Heavenly Sword Dev's: "Just because you saw the other images this week, doesn't mean we made them this week. The image released today was captured yesterday." "It all comes down to lighting, dof tweaking and blend-shape tweaking none of which took place for the "Cinematic Production" teaser."

It is clear that it is not CGI as has been confirmed by the devs. I am just waiting for Gamr to change the info. It is an INGAME screenshot. POG you really are a little bugger! If you go to the alternative source...you will see the devs telling us about the screenshot and that it is most definately INGAME and not cgi.

Umm, why is it necessarily a blockbuster hit? I get that the feedback has been positive, the game looks great, and there is a fair amount of hype, but no presales or whatever have started so I don't know how anyone can assume blockbuster hit, especially since this is an original title. That said I think it looks great, and I'm always ready for more good games in this God of War/Devil May Cry genre. I hope it's as good as people think it will be.
Although it is not clear if its in game or CGI regardless KZ2 boasts some amazing visuals. 9.1 nothing realy I'll believe it when i see it.

Screenshot looks great, but do not expect to see graphics like that while you're fighting dozens of enemies on screen. The dev said the screen is from one of the cutscenes. check the alternate link.
Yes I read it. It is a cutscene, but it is not CGI. Also they said that when your fighting people etc...they hope the character to look as good as that...they are just trying to get the eyes to look as good. So yeah...let's hope. That's why it's going to be delayed, they want to get it right up there in graphics.
It has to be in-game POG. There is no way that cgi hair would look that bad. there are only about 5 segments in that hair. Generally cgi hair has roughly 20. I'm still just trying to understand what you people think is so nice about this game. I have seen the video footage and the back grounds look good. The characters look not so good. and the gameplay looks old and done. Oh well, that's just my thoughts.

a video clip that doesn't use in game character and backgrounds. They are higher poly count objects that promote a more realistic video that the game itself can produce (final fantasy). Gears of War has no cgi it uses all in game assets. That's cgi 101 (Why do people think wikepedia knows everything? it is used as a reference kids)

I am almost positive that it is using in game assets, with post processing. You can tell by her hair. when she moves in the game her hair is really stiff looking (like DOA4) and this shot has the same crispy hair. Most cgi hair looks WAY better.
Jolly....too true. I guess. Frustrating though...this is one of my must-haves and have been on the boards talking to the devs. So you know. Anyway we'll wait til it comes out, and they show what their build of the games is like now, and not the Novemeber stuff they have been showing so far.

*COUGH!* CGI RENDER! *COUGH!* This is nowhere in-game graphics. I have seen Heavenly Sword so many times, and worked with graphics so many times, to say that this is NOT in-game graphics, without blinking with my eyes! Unless they mean "in-game" CGI video sequence, but then it's not reallt in-game as such anymore.
There's no reason to sit here and argue about whether or not it's ingame when the devs themselves said that it was. It's a cutscene from the game with touch ups. It looks great, but I don't see why it's that hard to believe. To be honest, I don't know why we haven't been seeing cutscenes of this caliber for a while now. It IS next-gen after all... Now if they claimed that they could do this with gameplay (what tricks do you have up your sleeve, Cell?) I'd be suspicious.
Im kind of glad this is a new screenshot for Heavenly Sword....I was getting tired of seeing so much hype and praise for Heavenly Sword when I saw that other picture the one with the red hair... My gosh that was ugly always looking at the rectangular hair strands... It was so funny seeing the praise for this and seeing that hair... But now Im glad at least their is a decent picture now. Cgi Ingame whatever it is still a cutscene and their is a whole lot of difference between watching something and playing something....

God of War looked great, no doubt, but it was the gameplay and fighting system - and cool monsters that made it an instant classic. I'm glad this game is looking good, but I'm more interested in the story, fighting system etc.
Sorry to have a rant, but what don't people understand about not posting their own personal opinion into the headline. What's the point in N4G rules if they aren't kept to. 'Incredible Heavenly Sword shot'. Sure, i think they look gorgeous and alot of other gamers on here probably think the same, but it's up to them to make their own minds up, it just doesn't sound professional and when you take the test to be a Contributor, it comes up with examples of headlines just like this that shouldn't be posted. Come on gamers, this site is reaching wider and wider audiences each day and this sounds amateurish. Thats seems a fair comment to me. I'm glad people contribute stories as much as they do, but lets keep the headlines a little more impartial.It really is bad form to tag your opinion on to the story.
Its a shot, its from Heavanly sword, it looks incredible and theres only one of them. Whats the problem? Its a pretty accuarate title if you ask me. Some of you are getting bent out of shape about this CGI/realtime thing. We all know what CGI is. Its basically a cartoon that you can put as much detail as you like into and are prerendered. Realtime or ingame are all generated on the fly by the game engine. Cut scenes can be ingame as well providing they use the engine like in MGS, but, since cut scenes dont have to worry about charactor AI and lots of other things and are basically playing out set instructions, extra graphical effects can be added so even game engine cut scenes usually look just a little better than what it looks like when you're actually playing. Having said that all the art assets are the actual ones use while playing so the overall quality is pretty similar. Great shot, beautiful. Hey, who keeps taking my bubbles? I haven't even tried to offend anyone yet. Is it because I made a crack about The Mart? Admit it, he cant give credit where its due. If you think thats a lie, then how come he hardly post on a POSITIVE PS3 story? He'd rather say nothing than have to say something nice, which is actually OK with me. ;)

Man, a lot of people seem to be really confused about the terms 'in-game' and 'cutscenes' and how they relate to gameplay. 'In-game' is a term typically understood by gamers to be what the game will look like during gameplay. However, to a studio in-game could mean anything from gameplay to cutscene but is usually a cutscene. 'cutscenes' are easier to define, they use the game assets but don't spend any processing power on things like AI for example. Instead this extra processing is used on visual quality. Also, due to the scripted controlability of cutscenes, the developer can really keep the processing at peak efficiency from frame to frame. They don't have to reserve power for the unpredictable things that players do during gameplay. Cutscenes will always look significantly better than gameplay. Unfortunately, studios commonly try to pass cutscenes off as gameplay regardless of the platform. It's a dirty practice they use to try and build hype and chatter that they know will ultimately sell more copies of the game. When you hear terminology like 'real time', 'in-game engine', 'in-game assets' or even just 'in-game' be suspicious because it's unlikely to be gameplay. If you see screenshots without any types of heads up display, life bars or guages or they are from a weird angle not common to gameplay then it is almost guaranteed to be a cutscene. Even the term 'gameplay' can't always be trusted as clearly demonstrated by Sony and their famous Killzone 2 trailer fiasco that they swore up and down was gameplay even during a live interview with g4tv but turned out to be CGI along with their motorstorm and warhawk trailers I might add. I single sony out here because it's the most famous example I can think of. Others have done it also. Even when it actually IS gameplay, keep in mind that the studios are using hand picked, dramatic shots which usually aren't typical of the actual game. Welcome to the nasty world of marketing.
yes that pic is from a cut scene.but here are the facts. FACT 1:the devs said the cut scenes will use the games engine. FACT 2:the devs said that they are going to work hard so that it is very hard to tell the difference between gameplay and cut scenes. they said they are doing that so it want have an impact on the "" i'm playing a movie"" feel. no offense, but sometimes you guys make things SO MUCH HARDER then it really is. and yo,i digg that spider man video it proves a good point. Opinion/PROBABLY:ps3 and/or 360 can probably handle crysis's crazy grafix the devs are probably saying they cant so alot of people want start speculating or something.
Someone who gets it. It's really a lost cause, though. They're delarious to any good PS3 news, it's ridiculous. Some of these people still refuse to believe MGS4 was real-time. Even though all MG games have been and even after it was shown off an SDK during TGS. Read their forums, it's in-engine.
a few days back showcased some really cool camera techniques, such as depth of field during dramatic fight moments, so there's no doubt that they're still using it. It's customary for games to use separate models for in-game cinematics and actual gameplay (Metal Gear, or Gears of War for example), but it's always the goal to make them appear equal in quality. Getting complex facial animation on Nariko and enemies alike during massive battles is going to be an intensive feat. In fact, if you watch the november footage you'll see that she has very little emotion during the action, and it's obvious that the developers would want to rectify that. It's subtle, but vital.
June needs to hurry up and get here. This game is gonna ROCK!!!!

Seriously guys, get hyped up for Heavenly Sword all you want (I sure am), but this is seriously not in game. Look at the screen and you can clearly see the pores and freckles on Nariko's face. If you think that the characters are going to be that ridiculously hyperdetailed in game then you're mad. I'd be willing to bet that this is from a HD movie cutscene. I'm not saying that they game won't look good, just that I think it's nearly impossible it would look this good.

Dude. I for one am not a Sony fanboy. What I am is heavenly Sword fanboy. Talking to the devs who provided this shot, and NOT Sony, this photo was given to fans of the most recent build of the game. The shot is definately in-game...an in-game grab from one of the cutscenes and the devs said they have much improved since november (cinematic production) and have added lighting effects, and texture etc. Now what must be realised is that this is a cutscene grab using in-game engines and not cgi...but you must also realise they hope to get the gameplay upto this standard, BUT that's not really their aim, as you have to think how small the character will be in the game...having that much quality would be almost pointless and very hard to do with 500+ enemies on screen at points. I suggest you lay off and let people enjoy this little gift from the hard working Ninjas working on this game. Do I have to explain this again? Gr I think we'll have to wait until it comes out. This was publish by the developers on the official ninja theory forums. Its in-game. despite a few people claiming it couldn't be in-game the developers assured them it is.
