Sony has responded to SPOnG today regarding the 'release date' posted on Play for God of War III. It seems that this may simply be a case of over enthusiasm.
The Play page - pictured right - states the release of the forthcoming blockbuster as September 25th 2009; a Friday.
Sony has already stated that it is gearing up a huge marketing campaign for 2009 - which will include GOW III. However, the game is not expected to release in the fourth quarter of this year - putting it into October at the earliest.
A SCEE spokesperson told SPOnG this afternoon:
"We haven't confirmed a release date for GOW3 yet, we should have more details on this at E3. We're asking Play to remove that now as well."
