Why Gaming Needs an Oscar

I agree video games should have an official and international recognition as cultural and artistic products, and they have to get rewards, but nothing to do with cinema and Oscars.

And i think there are already video game rewards, it just doesn't fit in a ceremony.

Just check Oblivion and Fallout 3 from Bethesda, both haves had many major bugs when the GoTY came out and they won even with that many problems.
The version of Oblivion GotY is still bugged as hell and FA3 still freezes my PS3 often so in my opinion it is complicated to give an Oscar to such buged games.

For a game oscar bugs should not be disconsidered like ok, remove this bug hwere and that a the multiplayer mode that still not work propely but we will still give the oscar of action FPS to this game.

It will not work too well expecially when the most expected games of the year normally arrives in november,not enough time to fix bugs ...

Just completing what I said above.

To give a GoTY or an Oscar of 2006 to oblivion and 2008 to Fallout 3 when those games had so many bugs we are telling the devs that:

"Ök, as soon as the game is super fun np if it freezes my video game every 10 mins because it is the best game of the year"
imagine if the GoTY game have so many problems what to tell aout the worst games ?

So I say if the game is still having major bugs it should ne discarted for the list for GoTY .

Yes, we need one, but only if the first ceremony grants those prizes to directors of the past like Kojima or Miyamoto who did an outstanding work

Outside of the hardcore fanbase, there are no celebrities in gaming. No celebrities means no interest in an awards ceremony from the general public, which means it won't ge much bigger than the Spike awards watched by those interested in the gaming industry.

The oscars are really annoying. fricking juno should not of been nominated for film of the year and slumdog millionaire did not deserve to win. every year it's just the same people voting for their friends in the industry
