Rumortoid: Assassin's Creed 2 details sneak out

Rumortoid writes:
I keep hearing about Assassin's Creed 2. You know it's coming -- there's no way that Ubisoft wouldn't be working on it. But there's still a lot of questions we have. And some answers have slowly been coming our way these past couple of weeks. Well, we'll call them rumors for now.

Last week, I met a fellow journo who...well, let's just say that he doesn't work in the US. His outlet is foreign. He gave me a delightful story of what Assassin's Creed 2 would be while we bar hopped. He told tales of lovely ancient Venice as a setting. He told me that Jade Raymond has a lot less to do with this title. He said lots of really nice things about what he saw behind closed doors.

And then today we get a mail that echoes a lot of what I heard earlier. Mr. J. Q. gives us a lowdown of what he just saw with his own eyes: Assassin's Creed 2. It's too early to know for sure, but we're feeling pretty good about the info, and these little hints and glimpses of what the game will be like. A tip of the hat to you, Mr. Q.

Some petty juicy details if true. I don't know if I'm into the whole disguise thing.. sounds too much like the Hitman series. Venice would definitely be an interesting setting, and would make sense to the developer comment about seeing some nice swimming animations a while back. I was one of the few (it seems) that really loved AC despite it's flaws, so naturally I can't wait to hear more. E3, here we come!

And it still hasn't gotten played once yet.

Maybe this will get me to start playing

doctorstrange3520d ago

what would be wrong with it being like hitman? that game was awesome and there doesnt seem to be a new one anytime soon so this will do

Freak of Nature3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

Yes Venice would be a beautiful setting.

I sure hope the rumor of swimming comes true. And that they have heard the crits from around the World on "repetitive gameplay"....They should do everything possible to keep the game fresh and non-repetitive...

The game was a "flawed masterpiece" IMO...

On my wish list would be a "jump button, that can go hand in hand with the already great climbing they have in the game, alsopossibly adding an MGS style "Stealthy goodness" to what they had.The bolt gun mentioned in the article gives me hope for some "range" weapons,to go along with the hand to hand attacks.

Really looking forward to seeing something soon...

Mugoldeneagle03, you've been on my AIM buddy list for years, but I have no clue what game we must have played together. Anyways, take my advice and NEVER play AC. You'll be deeply disappointed within 3 hours.

That's weird...

Probably Socom or Socom II. My handle for those games were Red |)ragon.

Either that or maybe from GB.

Or maybe we actually know each other............Wierd........

Kevin McCallister3519d ago (Edited 3519d ago )

Yeah I'm thinking Socom. Did you ever run with the DK clan? With Cash and all those guys?

IrishAssa3519d ago

I hope they have a Hard mode were you die in 1 or 2 hits and make the enemies better fighters.

shawnhayden3520d ago

been waiting for some news on the sequel. AC is one of the most underrated games to be released this console generation...

nice to see something new after getting overdone, overrated, CRAP shooter titles thrown out 3 times a week

ThanatosDMC3520d ago

What was that producers name? Everybody just remembers her face and that she had a couple of help... best game sellers.

xabmol3520d ago

Very repetitive. Also, no friggin jump button!? In a game based on free running?! I rented it, played for about 2 hours, then returned it. I had more fun playing Lair. o.0 yeah...

STREET x KING3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

oh yea huh... anyways i lke AC

Bnet3433520d ago

I'm not going to say way overrated, but just a tad bit. I found the game to be a bit repetitive and the environments the same throughout the game.

Odion3520d ago

There def was a jump button it was called A

xabmol3518d ago (Edited 3518d ago )

"Jumping doesn’t require much input, either. You can simply hold the right trigger and a button and he’ll automatically jump from one object to another, whether it be posts jutting from stucco, rooftops, scaffolding, or hanging platforms."

"At first, we seriously questioned the control scheme, which, oddly enough, doesn't feature a jump button..."

"But as there’s no jump button..."

I loved AC and I can't wait for a sequel. I just really hope they add swimming into the game being as Venice is built in the water and all.

360 version will be better than Ps3 version.

Just like 99.9% of the time.
