Have you got 'PlayStation palmar hidradenitis'?

Skin specialists have identified a new skin disorder caused by excessive gaming. And it's called PlayStation palmar hidradenitis. But you CAN get it if you've got an Xbox or Wii...

The condition, which symptoms include sore red lumps on a patient's hands, has been so named in the British Journal of Dermatology. No, seriously.

Doctors who examined a 10-year-old girl in Geneva University Hospital found that she'd developed a condition known as 'idiopathic eccrine hidradenitis' but only on the hands - when it usually affects other areas like the feet, and is linked to heavy exercise and sweating.

The condition is actually multiplatform. So don't be fooled by the title.

This is so stupid, I was mad and laughed when I saw this on yahoo. They blame sweaty palms on the PS3 which is what causes the disease. Tell the skin specialist you can get sweaty palms from anything dummies.

For everyone who contacted this disease wash your hands after gaming, and get the pro coolers fro your controller.

is actaully a rare condition with red nodules and there are really not that many cases reported . This is more like simple skin abrasions from repeatly rubbing ur body parts on any objects; both conditions are benign and complete resolves with discontinuing the offending agent..so what's the big deal, u never had a skin abrasion from rubbing on something before?

There is something wrong with the name PlayStation eccrine hidradenitis, because if u say it is also known as IDIOPATHIC, then it's not really idiopathic is it? In medicine the term Idiopathic means "we dont know what's causing it", if u have a cause, then it's not idiopathic.
