Jun Takeuchi, the creative director and producer behind games such as Lost Planet and Resident Evil 5, gave a presentation at the 2009 DICE summit titled 'Un-Japanese Games: Creating Entertainment for a Global Gaming Audience.' In it he talked about Capcom's success in the West and the shrinkage of the Japanese market.
Capcom is one Japanese developer that's seen great success in Western markets, with video games like Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Bionic Commando and Resident Evil. They appear to understand the audience and its importance in the video games market, but it hasn't been easy for the developer to get to this stage.
