you have to live in Asia to even find a good arcade these days.

The reason arcades have suffered is that they used to be the only place to play a lot of games of higher visual quality than was available on home consoles.

If you go to the arcade now, even modern games look lacklustre compared to what we're used to at home.

There's little incentive to play and, because there's so few players, there's no incentive to push hardware because arcades don't want to buy machines unless they'll make back money on them. The last good arcade game I played was this Japanese Ferrari simulator, very good graphics for two years ago, realistic handling but far, far to expensive for the limited play time.

The arcade culture might be dead over here in the west but, it's still popular in Japan.

Did you mean Yu Suzuki's Ferrari 355 Challenge perhaps? That is 10 years old. Maybe you were thinking of Outrun 2, which was released in 2003?

Golden Tee Golf was my Favorite arcade game.
