DICE 2009: EA announces American McGee's Alice 2

J.C. Fletcher: According to a tweet from Geoff Keighley from the ongoing DICE summit, EA CEO John Riccitiello has just revealed a sequel to American McGee's Alice, coming soon.

Details are slim -- in fact, we just told you all of them right now -- but we can assume that Alice 2 will have American McGee's name on the cover, and will probably be another third-person action game that takes elements from the Alice in Wonderland story and makes them all edgy and gothy. We will pass along actual (i.e. non-conjectured) information as soon as it is available.

The story is too old to be commented.

Even beyond awesome for me....A game with style and the total opposite of generic...First one was a really underated game.Great gameplay and art design...

This promises to be something special, with big time backing, coming from people that think out of the box and do it with style.

PC and consoles in '09? I'd love to see it, but isn't McGee notorious for taking his sweet time getting games out. I never tried Grimm, were they any good?

Here is more on the "stylish" game....Plus a piece of art work at the link.....EA backing this and Brutal legend? They are really coming around. They should sign Planet Moon Studios next....

EA just announced the sequel to American McGee’s Alice, for now titled Alice. The game is set to be released on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and one artwork was released.

EA press release:
Electronic Arts Inc (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Spicy Horse today announced that they have signed a publishing deal for an all-new title based on EA’s 2000 classic, American McGee’s Alice™. The game reunites EA with American McGee, the creative visionary behind the original game. The new title is in development for the PC, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game console.

“This new project is a dream come true for me and the fans who’ve kept the Alice flame alive,” said American McGee, senior creative director at Spicy Horse. “EA gave us creative latitude and support on the original game which resulted in something beautiful and daring. This trip through the looking glass promises to be even more exciting.”

“EA Partners is thrilled to team up with American McGee and Spicy Horse on the next installment of the Alice franchise,” said David DeMartini, senior vice president and general manager of EA Partners. “American McGee’s interpretation of Alice was an instant classic, and EA Partners is ready to help him bring his innovative vision for the franchise to even darker, more exciting places.”

I loved the original it was a classic. I can't wait. In fact I think I'll install and play the first one again. It's been around 9 years since I last played it.

Really a fvcking good news. American McGee's Alice is one of my favorite game due to its level-design and chara-design, with Psychonauts and Legacy of Kain series. Making a bloody gothic universe based on a mere tale was a real innovation, and voice acting was awesome.

The game itself was quite classic but the universe was ingenious. I can't wait to see more of that Alice 2.
