Strategy Informer has posted 2 new screenshots for upcoming gaming Colin McRae: Dirt 2 for PC, PS3 and 360.
Awesome, This game rivals GT5 or even outdoes it, if the game really looks this good. The long development time will start to hurt GT5 with games like this coming out way before it.
This is obviously concept art work/cgi. You cant tell me the following screenshot is actually in game. http://images.strategyinfor... If it is I will eat my hat and it would officially be the best looking game ever.
What's Dirt 2 got to do with GT5???? These 2 are completely different games. And what do you care about GT5, it's not like you own a PS3. It's like me saying, wow that's a rival for Forza 3, maybe even better. See how ridiculous this sounds? Man, I cannot believe some people... @Mindboggle As PirateThom says below, Codemasters did the exact same thing with Grid. Even though Grid was a good game, the screenshots released before had nothing to do with the game...
No Fox these are not in game. Like everyone else said, what the hell has this got to do with GT5 anyway. Dirt 2 is a must buy for me, and I hope it keeps the Colin Mcrae name too. Can't wait to see some in game footage though.
On the Codemasters they refer to these pictures as "Target Renders". They are not representative of the final game but it is what they're aiming for.
Those screenshots are target renders. Only a fanboy such as yourself would get so worked up over the potential idea of these being real enough to exceed the visual fidelity of GT:5 prologue. BTW, what does the gameplay of this have to do with GT: 5's simulation racing? These are two different types of racing games, both with different types of racing environments.
If it looked like that, it would be incredible. I don't think it will look as good as that, but who knows. DIRT still looks very impressive to this day, and they've had a lot of time to work on it. I just hope they sort out the handling on the cars. You get used to it after a while when playing it, but when you go back to Forza or GT you realise how wrong it is.
It's still called "Colin McRae"?
I think so, the announcement press release said they wanted to honor Colin McRae and his legacy.
Yes, it is still called Colin McRae in memory.
they make a game in memory of colin?, wow thats dumb
actually yes and no, the game keeps its name because the family allows it, and the name helps the game sell in Europe. its a memory, but more for money then "best of wishes" -nai-
theres no way thats ingame looks miles better than gt5
undoutedly will look beter on 360
of course CGI looks better then GT5, SO WHAT!, what are getting at? are you trying to start a flame war or something
....those screens are in game. Concept art? replay screenshot? maybe. If the game does look like that though then wow, it looks astonishingly good.
No it's a target render, already stated in an Interview (when the first screenshots were released)
Codemasters keep pulling this with their games. Dirt and Grid were the same, I'm calling bullshots.
Some call them bullshots, some call them target renders. But still, they both looked awesome. I'd be surprised if this looks better than Grid. Let's just hope they've gotten rid of the "trolley" handling and "insta-brakes" that plagued the first Dirt. Wasn't that fond of the controls in Grid either to be honest. What did you think of them?
GRID and DIRT still hough look amazing, plus with the fact of the damage the cars can incure CM's are masters of their craft.
Yeah, agree, bullshots. What does "target render" mean ? Its not rendered thru the engine, and just running it thru Maja to set a milestone is useless - at least for us. Nice to put some pressure on the programmers :) But none the less, both Dirt and Grid are great games. If Dirt2 can improve upon this, its a clear buy for me.
If thats ingame... Then fack me it'll be an instant buy then
They're all target renders and/or bullshots. In fact, they look almost exactly like the opening CGI video from the first DIRT, just with a bit more rendering polish and effects.
they look like fake cgi aka Sony.
It's not Sony who advertise their games with "representative of in-game footage" along the bottom.
You mean "target renders" as they call it to justify them? ;)
Microsoft on the other hand straight up puts the words"in-game" on their CG trailers.
Sony is just the same as Microsoft or every other company: they lie all the time... They said that the E305 CG trailer for Killzone 2 was "definitely in game footage" Don't be so stupid to think that Sony is a saint and always tells the truth.. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
He's clearly talking about Resistance. Although the guy mentioned Killzone 2, Jack mentioned Ted, as in Ted Price from Insomniac, meaning Resistance was real time. And then he mentions Killzone 2 almost off handed.
all I can say is "must have game" DIRT 2
Sorry guys but these are CGI.
CGI, probably :)
and then tell us they are CGI like they have inside information or somthing... Bit like me saying sorry to P*ss on your parade but these are PC shots so with the right rig perfectly possible, I mean I know you love your PS3 but a power PC P*sses all over the PS3 and GT5.
I have GRID running all maxed out 1920x1200 , full AA etc, and that pisses on GT5 now, and DIRT2 will look even better. I thought the 1st dirt looked good untill grid, thats pc for ya, upgrading, and moving forward all the time.Sorry console owners.
....but these are definitely CGI. My computer rig is a quad core, xfx motherboard, with 2 nvidia 280gtx running, and a 7200rpm 1tb hard drive. I have never seen anything run on my computer look that good, not even Crysis. If they do hit that mark though, I will be the first in line to buy this game, because that would make this the best looking game ever!!! If you look at how the shots are, they look a hell of a lot like a CGI Trailer to me.
Coincidentally I've just been flipping through an old CustomPC mag (Sep 07) and found a similar quality Test Render (or whatever) for the original Dirt.
Dirt 2 pulling a "Sony"?
Not just sony
I'm not sure. That could be ingame. Possibly PC version, with high rez textures and af,aa etc. http://www.strategyinformer... That looks ingame. Just with alot more debris, etc. The car models look sweet, after playing GT5P car models have to get as good. GT5P is the pinnacle of car models.
If they can achieve this level of detail then it will be on the pc, even if it will take a few years for pcs to play it at max detail. That said I had GRID demo at 1920x1080 and at high details on my pc so its obviously a good engine that they've had more time to play with and learn so this could be possible. Below Teh_Shredder sorry but you're dreaming if you believe that. Hows that Graphics card you have for outdated?
... look to the left of the car at the dirt! That rocks are actually 3d looking. It does not look like a flat bump map at all it looks as if they are rendered in 3d. It just has way too much detail to be in-game screen shots.
Those are ingame, the GRID pics they showed last year where not a lie and so these too real. I cant really think its fanboys fantasy for people that anything cant be better than GT5 in graphics.
Lol, I don't even think a top end PC could display those graphics. Nice try Colin.
