I hope that this is true

C_SoL3534d ago

I work for Sony. JK :)

I hope it's true.

UNCyrus3534d ago

This is going to be amazing

no-spin3534d ago

This is similar to what others have said in the last few months
seriously doubt in game web browser
Usually Sony listens and obeys its customers

StephanieBBB3534d ago

This is what i've been waiting for since I got my PS3! :D

Qbanboi3534d ago

Too good to be true. I hope more than anyone for this to be true, but wont get my hype up.

villevalorox3534d ago

If this is true. But Im not going to get my hopes. i will love my psn 100X more.

sonarus3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

That is fake. At the very best part of it is fake. There is no proof or credibility to the original poster who started the rumor. Also in game web browser is SOOOOOO doubtful. In game browser will only be possible if included by the developers sort of like the way PES and MGS4 do it.

@stephanie. Sony can't just hold onto an SPU. They have upcoming games expected to use up all the SPU's an example would be Uncharted 2

StephanieBBB3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

Umm not rly... You can use 1 SPU of the PS3 to handle the web browser but it would mean alot of recoding and stuff. For example you can play a game on the PC and alt+tab and use your web browser, it's pretty much the same thing.

*edit Only difference is that the PC is using up alot of excessive RAM when doing this. The PS3 will have to be taking a slightly more advanced route to make this possible.

originalrece3534d ago

this could be huge in game voice chatting system in game internet browser

uh oh watch out XBOX!!!

gambare3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

- Voice messaging and voice chat options can be used while in-game.

that sole update is amazing.

- Loading time for In-Game XMB has been drastically reduced, resulting in a more seemless in-game experience.

this one would be awesome too

too good, we'll have to wait to see if it's true.

jwatt3534d ago

I don't think this is true but hopefully Sony is listening!

IdleLeeSiuLung3534d ago

sounds awesome. however:

"- Options that cannot be used in the XMB during game sessions are grayed out (but still selectable) to eliminate user accessibility confusion."

wouldn't leaving it grayed out and unselectable cause less confusion? Users will wonder why can I select it, but the setting doesn't stick?

rroded3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

- Loading time for In-Game XMB has been drastically reduced, resulting in a more seemless in-game experience.
- “Theme settings” options while in-game is now available, allowing custom themes to be applied to the In-Game XMB.
- Internet Browser can now be accessed while in-game.
- Voice messaging and voice chat options can be used while in-game.
- Options that cannot be used in the XMB during game sessions are grayed out (but still selectable) to eliminate user accessibility confusion.

ape0073534d ago

we'll see if it's true

hope it is

Lifendz3534d ago

I was expecting all this for 3.0. If it's true I'll be a very happy man when its available. Then again, I'm a very happy man anyway. KZ2 a mere week away!

Kushan3534d ago

One of the SPUs in the PS3 is ALWAYS reserved for the OS.

Out of the 8 CELL SPUs,

1 is disabled (For manufacturing reasons, not all PS3's have a "working" 8th SPU, so they're all disabled)
1 is reserved for the host OS
6 left for the game

I very much doubt it takes an entire SPU to display the XMB and play some music, so the web browser part sounds likely. I'd be more worried about it's performance, it can't exactly steal memory from the game and I believe 64Mb is reserved for the OS, it'd likely use this but that memory has ALWAYS been reserved, so how much is actually "Left" for the browser?
Lots of disk caching, I presume, but if you're just looking up a guide or whatever, it'd be fine.

Megaton3534d ago

Not gonna hold my breath, but I do hope that this is a legit list. Some really good stuff on there.

iamtehpwn3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

And That's In-Game web browsing.
The games use most of 360/Ps3's RAM.
Web Browsing can be a RAM heavy task, unless they do it properly.

On the other hand, 1 entire core of Cell's 8 is reserved for the Operating System so, it's not impossible, but, RAM maybe an issue.

xwabbit3534d ago

This was posted on the PS3 official forums and it was deleted lol xD.... what could that mean..

TheDude2dot03534d ago

Extremely fake. That would more likely be a 3.0 update if anything. The guy just listed everything (but cross-game chat/invite or whatever) everyone wants.

I predict that the 2.8 update will give you a free beer every time you push the PS button.

Lifendz3534d ago

is that right? I thought seven remained and only one was disabled for the OS. I never heard anything about an additional spu being disabled for manufacturing defects or something along those lines. Link please.

phosphor1123534d ago

Looking at walk throughs could never have been easier. (I play my PS3 on my HD monitor is why)

wolfehound223534d ago

sounds more like a wish list of every PS3 fan

pain777pas3534d ago

All that would be nice. Really nice and the best part its FREE!!!!!!!!!

RumbleFish3534d ago

In game access to voice chat will ruin any tactical shooter experience.

I hope this will not be possible.

Think about the games first! Not about options! The party chat on XBL ruins all shooter games without respawn.

KozmoOchez3533d ago (Edited 3533d ago )

no one cares for the rules anymore, people let this stuff get approved...

read the contributor rules about posting rumors from forums, CHECK THE SOURCES!

forum posters are liars, even here on n4g

Consoldtobots3533d ago (Edited 3533d ago )

In game voice chat is gonna go a long way to shutting up critics of a FREE service. Can cross game invites be that far away?

p.s. I think setting your XMB theme while in game is STUPID waste of coding time.

gaffyh3533d ago

Sounds too good to be true, it's like they are giving every feature (pretty much) that we want in 2.7. I personally am going to take this rumour with a grain of salt.

LightofDarkness3533d ago (Edited 3533d ago )

In-game web browsing is HIGHLY unlikely. The problem stems from the fact that the Cell (Xenon as well) uses in-order processing rather than out-of-order.

Modern processors in PCs use out-of-order processing, which allows for much faster context-switching and multi-tasking, because the processor does not stall while waiting for a required to resource to become available, it instead moves onto another available resource for another process and switches.

In-order processors stall while waiting for a required resource for the current process. These resources most often reside in main memory, which causes a problem with in-order processing, as main memory runs much slower than the processors. This is what creates the stall. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Modern web applications often demand a good deal of memory as well. I just don't see it happening. But, I could be wrong, I've not worked with in-order processing before and they may have a plethora of methods to work around the limitation. But it would certainly be "stuttering" and slow in any implementation.

paul-p19883533d ago

i SOOOOO hope its true, i have wanted in game web browser for a while (can check guides for games while playing LOL!! or do some stuff on the net while downloading game updates).

I cant wait for this if its true :)

Big Frank3533d ago

OOhhh PSN still doesn't have those features yet? Damn. PSN is so shoddy compared to LIVE, no wonder it's free. Apart from the web browser, LIVE custmers have had those features for a long time. I would hate to own a PS3 after using an xbox, maybe thats why so many people stick with it even with the RROD fiasco.

JsonHenry3533d ago

Now all we need is cross game invites and we will have what 360 owners have had since day 1.

And I will no longer need to pay for LIVE if I want a decent online console experience!!!

Elvfam5113533d ago

Resident Evil 5 already does cross game invite it probably release this firmware by then

Cajun Chicken3534d ago

Nice, hopefully thats true, I really want in-game webbrowser.

I'd like a link to the original source somewhere though.

AssassinHD3533d ago (Edited 3533d ago )

Replied to the wrong person. Nothing to see here.

Rob0g0rilla3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

Seems too good to be true. I think it's fake.

DavidMacDougall3534d ago

Agree = To good to be true
Disagree = Bot takin the p!ss

Cyrus3653534d ago

I agree as well, sounds great, but i don't think all that will happen in 2.7, but one can hope right?

3534d ago
themyk3534d ago

Hey thanks for the clock now can u please move the battery thingy out from right on top of it

AssassinHD3533d ago

"Other slight UI tweaks and enhancements" is at the bottom of the list.

farhsa20083534d ago

Internet Browser can now be accessed while in-game.

Yes, great news

rucky3534d ago (Edited 3534d ago )

That's not happening no way. That is a lot of features included in just one firmware update.

AssassinHD3533d ago

While I am hopeful, I am afraid I have to agree. I would expect to see that many features in a X.00 update, not a x.x0 update.
