Poor Game Sales Blamed For Square Enix Financial Cuts

Japanese giant Square Enix has revealed that its poor financial forecasts for the remainder of the fiscal year are largely due to falling expectations in operating income from its Offline Games and Amusements divisions.

Operating income via offline games had been projected to hit ¥7.5 billion by the end of the four financial quarters. Now, after the third, Square Enix explains that its offline games division has amassed operating income of ¥4.8 billion, and projects operating income will fall to ¥3.4 billion by the end of the year; a revision down some ¥4.1 billion.
