Nintendo or Amazon (depending on whether or not Nintendo suggested this bundle, we'll never know) may see the sub-par sales of Wii Music as a blemish on the brand, so this bundle will help boost those numbers and possibly, due to sales meaning so much to consumers, others will pick the title up as well.

I'm afraid there will be a lot of people that see this as a "great deal", get the console & game and be thuroughly dissapointed. I think it's much wiser to bundle the Wii with games that have actually built up a reputation for being fun and family oriented such as Wii Fit or Wii Play. By selling those "better" games with the console the consumer is much more likely IMO to go out and buy more games.

I'm sorry to say, but I think this bundle will frustrate those who bought it shortly after they recieve it, it could even have an adverse effect on peoples perception of what the console is touted as being, "fun and great for the family". I hope they decide to grab another game or 2 when they order.

In essence I agree and bubbles for stating that, though perhaps those who are older and may not have a family close by (such as the elderly who may be living in a retirement home). May enjoy this bundle more so than others who are out and about still looking for a Wii because their son and or daughter want one.

If that's the Nintendo "sub-par" level of success. Wow.

ChickeyCantor3505d ago

yeah it sold above 2 million already...
I've noticed that people are jumping to conclusions that software on the Wii is bombing in sales while in fact most of them already sold above a million.

A million is considered more than a success.

eagle21, considering the install base and the sales for other official Wii titles such as Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Fit, yes, it has sold very poorly.

Try to keep perspective here, The Wii has sold roughly 46.19M, Wii Sports has sold 42.04 m (albeit bundled with every console), Wii Play which isn't bundled has sold 21.63 m, which is astounding.

And sales aside, it's pretty unanimous across the board Wii Music is at best a poor attempt at being an innovative and fun game, hence why I draw the just conclusion that many new Wii owners would likely be dissapointed (and possibly jaded) by it.

If Wii owners want a music game they should pick up GH World Tour or Rock Band 2, Wii Music pales in comparison to both of these.

So you think its a poor innovation at best...So thats what all people will think?

No this is you forcing those games onto them. Will you explode if someone likes Wii-music?

AS for a game doing bad with a big audience, lets take a look at PS2 and okami. kinda shows where the "hardcore" soul really is. "casual" gamers always dominate. So a wii title selling 2 million with such a big audience is not bad. Cause on every console 2 million is what lots of games do at best regarding a huge "hardcore" audience. The Ps2 if we look at it, what game sold 100million? should we say all ps2 games are selling poor now? it was the "hardcore" console right?

"Will you explode if someone likes Wii-music? "
Of course not, I'm sure some people do, however from a consumer standpoint I don't feel it does the best job in portraying the quality inherent in many Nintendo games of this gen.
Of course not all people with think Wii Music is a poor game.
It's my OPINION kiddo, I'm completely entitled to it.
Grow some perspective and stop taking offence at ANY critisism against something you seem to cherish so much.
The Wii has plenty of great games, I would rather people are enjoying those.
If you haven't been able to comprehend my intent, that's YOUR problem. I'm NOT bashing the Wii. I'd rather people get games that make them want to buy more Wii games. Simple as that.
Take off the fanboy goggles, ,not every game under the Wii brand umbrella is a "gem" as you seem to believe.

sheesh.

eagle213505d ago

But he also said that the 3.2 million selling Animal Crossing: City Folk was "disappointing"...

All I'm saying is WOW, Nintendo must have wanted 5 million each by now.

Voiceofreason3505d ago

You really do not want to get into an install base vs sales debate. THe only thing that needs to be said is God of War 2 and how it only sold to 2 million PS2 owners with an install base of 140 million or so.. So any game you want to call a failure you must also call God of War a failure also.

Yours or mine? eh?!
I don't agree with your perspective, hence the back talk ;).

Wether its a gem or not, 1 million sold copies is not bad.
Its more than enough to bring in back profits.

Finally i can afford wii music and hit titles like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Mary Had a Little Lamb.(sarcasm)

Wii Music is still really not all that bad...(serious)

barakiu3504d ago

how they marked up the price of Wii Fit, selling for 30 dollars more[119.99], so being that Wii Fit was the number one selling game last month, they expect most of those bundles will garner a purchase of Wii Fit, meaning....they make an extra 10 dollars cause Wii Music isn't really discounted...(according to that logic..not bad strategy.)

wiizy3504d ago

so wii sales should spike up for febuary. has killzone2 crack the top twenty yet? hope everyone picks up deadly creatures, tenchu and house of the dead. i havent one commercial for these games yet.

wiizy3504d ago

haha its hard to take wii haters seriously. they never make sense... when was the last time a game sold as much as the console itself and nintendo games keep on selling, evergreen. i believe mario ds was in the top ten while most of your so call hits, favorite shooters wasnt? and wii software sales will only pick up which is scary... look what mario and wiifit is doing to halo and metal gear.
