1UP is answering all your questions about the 360's upcoming sim racer.
What's up with those in-game screenshots? They look really cruddy compared to this: http://www.1up.com/do/slide...
What do you expect? 1UP always mangles their media; whether it be screens, video, or even audio, 1UP will find a way to screw it up. The reason there's such a discrepancy is that the third shot you posted wasn't touched my 1UP, it was put there unmolested. The first two, however... =/
I found out what they did to it. See attached image for the PROPER size. They stretched it out in their media section.
Edit: It looks like N4G maims it too, with some kind of stupid on-the-fly compression. Check it out at the original link:
GT:HD looks better than this.
And GTHD doesn't run at a locked 60FPS with real-to-life physics going at 120FPS, either. So remember, there's always more than meets the eye.
Drew that is why i said so far it looks good. i was already looking forward to this game no matter what.
The games has real time dirt cover and damage, the pic above looks great! all the paint is rubbed off not to mention they mentioned the cars wont stay nice and clean for long. lol what ever #3 it's your opinion.
You can't really judge 360 games in pics as there's so much going on in the game they only capture a current effect on things at any given time inwhich the pic(s) are tookin. lol
Don't worry about the Sony die hards the pic's were suppose to show off what will be going on in the game and not to rag on Foza. That's just one of many in the piece.
Yeah, just bump into a wall at 175mph in GTHD. Then do it in Forza 2. Compare the images after that, and see which one looks better. It's always about "what's under the hood" not eyecandy.
In the realm of graphics GTHD wins hands down. However, forza is presenting itself as a more complete racing simulator. With the driving wheel and all the physics running in the background the game is going to be as close to racing as any game has ever been. It may not look as polished but the depth of gameplay and licensed cars will be incredible and I think that if you want a simulator and car entusiast community then Forza is the way to go. If you want a racer that looks good, get GTHD...
I thought GTHD was basically a demo :/
Compare Forza 2 to GT5, not, GTHD
i would... but so far there is nothing to compare it to... there are no screenies nor actual hard fact on gt5... by the time GT5 comes out FM2 will be old hat and the guys at polyphony will have had enough time to try to counter what turn 10 are doing. that being said, the reason (at least from what I can see) that forza doesn't look as good as GTHD (and certainly not as good as GT5 will look) is because they are dedicating so many of the threads to physics and AI. While pholyphony is probably threading more graphic processes versus physics processes. This in turn means that Forza will be a more realistic sim with weaker graphics while GT will be prettier but track fewer physics.
GTHD is a show piece it's not a game, the balance of resoures would be radicly different if it was actually a game with tons of substance. More vehicals, tracks, effects, AI and a million other things. Lets compare games here, not interactive tech demos. Im sure any company with a powerful enough console could do it but for what?.
#8.1 I know that!, are you saying after they scraped work on the full game they had progressed to this point of polish and graphical ready-ness before they scraped it?. It doesn't matter if what you meant it's the realality of the "give and take" relationship dev's go through making games, Didn't mean to pick on you. Arcade vs Sim, Demo vs game, don't give the game was finished(including the PSN demo) but they scraped alomst all of it except whats in the demo.
Has it ever crossed your mind they didn't finish the game and chose to give the gamers something, and continued to work and polish what little they were going to offer gamers at the same time having massive available resources.
GT:HD wasn't just a tech demo. it was going to be an actual game but they scraped it to work on GT5 instead. and all i said was that it looks better, i didn't say anything about the gameplay.
Well also all of the cars in Forza will be customizable, and will have detailed damage models, let's keep that in mind too.
Old one shorted out due to excess drool...gad, this is gorgeous, and perhaps the one racing game that can give GT5 a run for its money. Think about it: GT has set the bar pretty high. If Forza can approach--or meet--or exceed--that standard, we're in for a treat.
This game, like halo will look a lot better in the final version. In the video he says they are working on gameplay before graphics. GT:HD is the final version of their game they were going to release.. One car on the track, it's not a game.
Are riddled with placeholder textures and to be shined models. In the next 5 weeks Forza 2 will be going through the tweaking and shining after this it will be going into testing then production and finally release. Its set for a very early May release(most likely either May 1st(Tuesday) or May 3rd(Thursday) and theres even talk for launching a week early if everything goes smooth.
This game is 60 fps locked, 360 physics fps, and with amazing customizing.
From the looks of the trailers I might actually buy this game :p!
