PS3 fan Marcus L C*CK SUCKER gives us one of his theories on where the blame lies for the decline in video games sales this month.
Wow, a little harsh there, don't you think?
Obviously doesn't like it when the shoe is on the other foot.
OGWILSON, you ask dont you think like this guy actually has a thought in his head. Only thing going on in pp's tiny little head is spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam,
MMMMMMMMMMM Spam....bubbles for you penny
I don't think you can just single Xbox 360 out like that. If the playstation was hackable, people would be doing it just the same. Look at the Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, original xbox. All were hackable, all are being pirated. Just because it's impossible to do on PS3 doesn't mean that PS3 owners are any less innocent.
It's not an issue of the 360 being to blame or the PS3 being innocent. The author of this article seems to forget that sales slump after the holidays. Period. That's just the way of things. Blaming the 360 (or any other console) for slumping sales would be the same as praising the 360 (or any other console) for boosted sales in November and December when...oh, there's this little holiday called "Christmas" going on.
Except the Wii is now hackable by softmod. Who do you think will experience the biggest piracy problem? What about the Nintendo DS and R4? Why single out the 360?
This is one stupid @ss article. Piracy helps hardware sales. It hurts software sales. Sony said as much themselves when asked about piracy on the PSP. And the numbers the article used had the 360 dropping more in hardware sales then it did in software. Four times as much in hardware then software sales. The sales drop has nothing to do with piracy especially since the Wii is by far the easiest system to hack.
And am I missing something?? Have the official sales numbers for January been released yet??
I think that a comparison cannot be made to the previous month but rather to the previous year at the same time in order to remove the holiday season from the equation. If that is done, Xbox sales in January have improved. In January of 2008 the 360 sold 608305 units. In January of 2009 the 360 sold 991213 units. This is a difference of 382908 which is a 62.9% improvement over the previous year. Not exactly a sign of decline in sales.
is because all the christmass sales are over .... This is the lamest article on N4G
He says "360 heads" in the title, then goes on during the article to blame piracy. What a moron! Every console is hackable. Why single out the 360?
This guy has no idea what he is talking about "With a -6% decline in Video Games and -25% decline in hardware sales in January, one cannot help but wonder if we are repeating our past in yet another industry of entertainment. I hate to bring this up but piracy of gaming is growing obviously in the midst of this great economic decline on one console [Xbox360] in specific. That same console also quietly tied the Playstation Portable for last place in sales last month." A 6% drop from dec to jan ? OMG and thats amazing if its true. Dec is the biggest month of the year for gaming sales (and most anything less) and only a 25% in hardware if that true then the 360 still sold over a million system in Jan again that amazing. The 360 tied the psp for last place last month (aka in Dec) is this guy on crack The 360 out sold everything other the the wii
nice plagiarism Xbox Heads have to Blame themselves for Decline in Sales written by Quentyn, February 09, 2009 I don't think you can just single Xbox 360 out like that. If the playstation was hackable, people would be doing it just the same. Look at the Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, original xbox. All were hackable, all are being pirated. Just because it's impossible to do on PS3 doesn't mean that PS3 owners are any less innocent.
Uh what? I guess the 7.6% unemployment rate had nothing to do with it.
this is a really bad article. I can't believe I wasted my time reading this instead of watching heroes.
With a title like that and the first four words being "PS3 fan Marcus L" it raises a few flags...
Piracy isnt affecting the Wii, the DS, or the 360. If that was the case, then why isnt the PS3 just RAPING the competitions sales?
lol, the link also goes to nothing, heh.
i think its the reverse. ps3 is to blame!!
well maybe just maybe it's normal for sales to decline in January due to it being the month after the huge holidays shopping... no-one one company can be blamed for declining sales.....
shouldn't decide anything, especially one after christmas. However a lack of original ip's maybe true to some degree, though there are a few in production already
Yes and No.
The early months of the year are usually slow months and you can't really blame one console or group of consumers. Piracy on the PC is one thing, but Piracy on the 360 isn't that big. The Summer and Later months in the year are usually the biggest time for most electronics anyways. I think the games that aren't AAA status or games that aren't Must Have's will suffer the most in sales this year, but I think most major games being released and big franchise games will be just fine. I really hate to see Originality and the lack of new IP's lessen... but I guess right now I'm really hoping for Team ICO to deliver something groundbreaking like they always have done, as well as Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain and Remedy's Alan Wake.
move along folks, nothing to see here..
yea so true specially since we all know psp owners dont pirate.
Article has a weak argument. How do you prove piracy is to blame for the decline in hardware sales? Hardware should theoretically improve. The most questionable part of the article however is that January sales decrease in relation to December; its a given. Author needs to rewrite once year to year comparisons can be made and npd is released to the public.
I never cease to be amazed at the length some people will go to denigrate another console, This is becoming silly almost childish. No no it is childish, a pathetic attempt at blaming perceived downturn in sale's as being the fault of one console, No sir! not on, you fail.
What decline in Hardware sales again?
and people complain about my submissions? how did this poor excuse for a fvcking article get approved? how can anyone take this guy serious? Xbox gamers are the reason for decline in sales? pathetic.
I think the writer of this article got confused... he probably though that NPD numbers were actually out and showed an xbox 360 sales drop... He probably was working on this article for the past 2 months and hit submit by mistake... lol losers.
Ya'll hoes are brutal on N4G. My vote....yall need girlfriends. And Analoghype hype sux monkey ballz! LOL
this story is a prime example of bad journalism.if you can,t produce facts, shut up and let real journalist report gaming news.i never in my life seen such lies on N4G.fanboys going back and forth is 1 thing, but lies by so-called journalist is a shame and a crime to gaming news sites.
wow no real info here at all. summary: "Piracy exists on 360 so that means they are the reason for our downfalls" hello the wii os easier to hack than the 360 but its not MS fault that wii has nothing to pirate LOL, ds can be hacked, psp can be hacked so where are all the fingers pointing at them?
The author of this story must not follow the monthly NPD report.we must not take poison for truth, but question every story that post on this website and others.it,s a shame when i read a story that spells doom for the 360 after having great holiday sales for december.truth must prevail at the end of the day, even if you love or hate the 360.
Sales drop drastically during the months of January and February...after the Holiday season no one wants to spend money. Article is ridiculous...
I blame 50 cent
lmao that came out of nowhere.
LOL bro, I agree...Bubbles 4 U!!!
What's the link with the 360's DVD drive as above pictures?
wow, that article was laughable, how the hell did this get approved? even with the piracy, the 360 has the highest attach rate of all 3 consoles, not to mention that age old PC game piracy isn't even mentioned in the article. Console piracy isn't exactly a new thing either, when i was about 8 years old most of my mates had their PSX chipped, or knew it was possible to do so. the 360 to me seems to be doing a pretty good job against piracy if i'm honest, the shift M$ has put onto the online functionality means it's so much easier to check for the modified hardware needed for the pirated games. if kept offline the console loses so much functionality, and most games have massive aspects lost too, so really they have pirates by the manparts.
piracy on the xbox360 is growing even bigger on the net. sales will decline im not saying now but eventually! it will get worse for MS
Except the post holiday slump.
The gaming masses have already dictated how this gen will play out. 360 needs to be in desperation mode for all those who really follow gaming. With the oncoming PS3 price cut, solid 1st/3rd party Wii games this year, 360 needs something great to bounce back. Sorry, KI3 and Alan Wake wont cut it. Rare hasn't made a GREAT game since GCN (exc. Viva Pinata) and is Alan Wake a real game??
So the xbox has sold more in the last year than the previous one and thats a decline in sales. Guy needs to go back to school. Retard.
No surprise that it became a top news story on N4g! What load of crap. And what's with the summary. The answer's surprising to no one? What's that supposed to mean. This is pure fanboy flamebait.
Did this guy look at the sales so far this month? VGChartz just released their numbers for the last week in January, which were very good. And this guy is talking piracy? Sure you can mod an Xbox and this does happen, its not as rampant as piracy once was even a generation ago. Everyone knows the most rampant piracy is on the PSP right now, just because its so simple...and the DS is not too hard either. Just a crappy article.
MS should just stick with software, but its true that their great competitor
Yeah i'm sure teh xbox heads are to blame but still it beats ps3 in sales. http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-...
Why is the Lite On drive text in red and the other drives in green?
Good question. I know that the Liteon drive is the latest and most recent drive and was the hardest to mod. While the other have had a mod since the 360 has been out. Just recently the liteon mod has hit mainstream. Maybe at the time when that Pic was first "painted" the liteon drive was still not a tapped drive to the mainstreams... But i am just guessing and rambling on...LOL Your guess is as good as mine.
