TGR has discovered the demo release date for the Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena in an interview with a PR representative at the New York Comic Con.
I'm actually pretty interested in this game. Never played the first. but I love how the franchise is still around despite the fact it never really took off as a movie or game completely...
Granted Riddick is a cool looking character but there are an awful lot of him and this isn't exactly his first game either. I wonder how they'll make this into something that people will want to play.
There isn't a single other game this year that interests me more than Dark Athena, including RE5. I wait with bated breath.
Really? That's a lot of Riddick Loving...
It's not Riddick love; it's Starbreeze love.
This is one of my top 5 games of the year. Thought it would be coming out in March, although there is a demo in its place. The first game was great...one of the better looking games last gen and unique to boot. There are a lot of games I think that are being overlooked....Riddick being one of them. Also, I am highly anticipating The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf. Anyone else? Also, what happened to Elveon?
This is in my top 3 most wanted games this year, along with Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2. I loved the original Chronicles of Riddick on Xbox and I can't wait to play the new chapter. This game is also going to be an incredible value. It contains the entire Escape from Butcher Bay game--redone with significantly enhanced visuals and gameplay enhancements--but it also includes a whole new game equal in length to the original and picking up immediately after where the first game ended. It also has a multi-player mode that I expect will be pretty damn fun. I seriously can't wait for this game.
I bought the first one for a rock bottom price of like $5, but its in my deep "when I get time" collection. Plan on picking this up for the new story and remake of the original. I love the universe of Riddick...
...collections are AWESOME to have. There's always something to play. I too have one of those collections. I'm glad DA will have the original included on the disc. This is very pleasing and I hope more companies follow this model in the future if possible.
Cool, I'll have to grab the demo. You know, Doom is based loosely around the time Satan borrowed two bucks from Vin Diesel and forgot to pay him back.
I thought it was Chuck Norris?
No, Chuck Norris was Unreal Tournament...he coded it, designed the weapons, and did the melee moves all at once. Cause he's Chuck Norris.
Ooo that's earlier than I was thinking. I can't wait, Starbreeze makes naught but gold.
first game was silly short....
I'm looking forward to it. Apparently big Vinnie Diesel love's video games and played a big hand in the making of this game, Christ! it's like Peter Jackson all over again.
with a demo too sweet!!! To people who didn't play Chronicles of Riddick before, know this, it was one of the best games for the original Xbox. It had graphics close to next gen consoles and the gameplay rivals Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Soild combine!!!! And its a movie license too!!! It was said by some critics that if Chronicles of Riddick had multiplayer it would beat Halo 2!!! This was the most surprising game of 2004 no one expect it!!! Every now and then there is a game that is ahead of its time, just look at Perfect Dark for N64!!! It had so much features packed into it for multiplayer that rival many games on last game consoles to current game consoles!!! It was ahead of its time!!! It even had this great game mode where one player plays as Joanna Dark in single player, and the other player plays as any of the bad guys Joanna Dark faces. The other player with the bad guys can even commit suicide to randomly switch to a different person!!! It was the first game to use this Crossplay mode, but one game developer claim that a upcoming game called The Crossing is going to be the first to use this feature. They were wrong and they need to do there own research. Here is a link to the game called The Crossing: http://www.gametrailers.com... It is a shame that many FPS still don't have as much mulitplayer modes as Perfect Dark did for N64, which is disappointing!!! Not even the Halo series, James Bond games, Resistance series, Pefect Dark Zero, probably not even Killzone 2, and many other FPS out there have as much modes as this last gen game. All these games should of had the Crossplay mode in them too, but modes like Deathmath, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag is the standard for all FPS. Perfect Dark is still ahead of every FPS out there!! And that is a hell of a lot too say!!! I hope Perfect Dark 2 follows Perfect Dark for N64. Nuff said.
I'm really looking forward to this one! Played through the first game back when it was released and I loved it! Any idea how long the Assault on Dark Athena campaign is going to be? Hope it's not a 2 hour expansion, but equal to the original game itself in length and depth.
No, the developers have said that the new chapter is equal in length to the original game. So this game is going to be an incredible value. Revamped 'Escape from Butcher Bay' (the original game, redone) + All new game 'Assault on Dark Athena' (equal in length to first game) + New multi-player modes = One awesome package
I missed out first time round, and my mate always goes on about this being "the best movie game in years" so I'm hoping both the new game and the first afre up to his claims. I'll definitely be picking this up in any case.
yo the first one rocked man, play it with coop with your homie, youll love it.
I clicked on the link and only a release date for the actual game but no demo date.
because I'm interested!
that might give KZ2 a run for it's money in the graphics department.
This game is going to be so awesome. Two full campaigns, multiplayer modes, amazing story telling, fantastic production values and some of the best graphics on consoles. This is one of my very most anticipated games.
The first game was fracking amazing and if this one is even close to that in terms of story and gameplay then it'll be a worthy addition to any gamer's collection.
