Why do Japanese game devs and anime companies hardly ever include characters who actually look Japanese? The closest S-E ever got was in FFX when all the characters would magically become Asian during the CG cutscenes. On one hand, Japan seems to be somewhat xenophobic and on the other, they have an extreme fascination with Westerners.
racist people won't buy japanese character games.j/k. most of the characters do look asian but with western eye.
Tidus looks Japanese. So does Yuna and Rikku... and Wakka. and Rinoa. And a bunch of other FF characters. They all have hair colour that isn't shiny black but all their faces are asian. And yes, even their eyes have the epicanthic fold. 'sides, didn't they mention during the development of FFXII that it was actually the first FF where the main character's (Ashe and Vaan) figure were based on someone not japanese and instead french? Squall was modeled after a japanese singer too, IIRC.
Not on my copy of FFX. On mine, Tidus looks like this normally: http://www.ffx-europe.com/s... and then in cutscenes he looks like this: http://www.oyohimura.com/si... I also have quite a large collection of anime and about 90% of the characters appear to be completely Caucasian.
They are jealous cause we got bigger you know whats.
I wanna meet Tifa's real-life counterpart =P

hells yeah she's hot!
year i remember that picture linux first time i saw it i was like its not CG O.o Where is this woman I must marry her!!! *checks banking account*
I totally agree. A lot of japanese characters look like western characters with regards to eye color with slight Japanese(and Asian) characteristics. For instance the picture of the red head above has slightly slanted eyes but her eye color is green. You hardly ever see that in real life. I have yet to meet an asian with blue, hazel, or green eyes, yet their character design in video games are full of them. Sepheroth from FFVII is another one Silver hair with blue eyes,I guess thats why they call it a fantasy. I personally don't mind, it adds a variety affect in video games which is needed. On another note the Cut-scenes have come along way. You can really tell what ethnic the character is just by looking at them which is impressive in its own right.
I'm asian and my particular ethnicity are the only asians i know who has natural blonde hair. very small amount. they say that we once had blue eyes as well. highly doubt it. shades of blue and green are present but barely noticable though. my under developed culture made it to the big screen.. Gran Turino
Goodness Linux she is the Hotness! I think its time to go to japan.
She has like the same hair style and that's all. How do people think she was the inspiration for the character?
The singer looks nothing like that FFXIII character.
