IGN: Fuel Hands-On

Designing a massive open world racing game is rarely attempted for several reasons. Mainly it's due to the difficulty of populating the landscape with enough distractions, obstacles, pretty things to look at, and plenty of raceways to keep players coming back for more. That challenge didn't stop Asobo Studio from creating a new engine called ACE (Asobo Conception Engine) which, according to Asobo, is able to generate some of the largest single environments ever seen in a videogame.

Codemasters' Fuel is the first title to leverage the technology and from what IGN saw of an early build, the bold claim of creating one of history's largest virtual worlds might not be far off the mark.
