Demon's Souls Dengeki Buyer's Guide Review

Translation:

A bold game pursuing for the fundamental of joy in videogames.

This is an action RPG developed by SCE and From Software. Player must hunt down demons in order to save the kingdom. Information such as where you are supposed to go or how to defeat demons is intentionally provided in limited amount, so the player has to discover by try-and-error. This, instead of being nuisance, is the appeal of the game.
Also, for online co-op, there are interesting features such as leaving a dying message to leave a clue for other players.

Pros: Due to its high difficulty, there will be many unreasonable deaths, but because of that there is a big catharsis in finding out how to over come the obstacle. Control is very responsive and simple, so fighting against enemy is a breeze. Character making and leveling up give you a lot of freedom, so creating a character of your own is quite enjoyable.

Cons: You can't pause during game. Because of its serious and tense atmosphere and game structure, it's really not for casual gamers. A/A

King's Field kicked copious amounts of ass back in it's day. I sincerely hope SCE releases this game in North America. If not, I'll be importing the English asian version. I cannot wait for this. The KF series was very much hardcore and there's no reason for this one to be any different.

WKC and DS are 2 of my most wanted games. Glad this game will be difficult as too many games are on the easy side. Don't mind a challenge and look forward to this game.

i don't trust Japanese reviews.... but my expectations for DS were quite low so this comes as a nice surprise

I ONLY trust my own opinion. Why people put more trust into "reviews" rather than their own opinion/ experience is beyond me.

If every reviewer on the planet gave KZ2 5/10 or 2/5 I'd still get it. Why? Simple. These "reviews" don't know you. They don't know your likes and dislikes. They're just people with opinions that get paid.

Besides, given all the controversies that have gone on with reviews why would anyone trust them nowadays anyway?

but wtf dude no pausing during in game play? how you supposed to save wut if you want to quit for a smoke break or bathroom break.. do you just let the enimies rape the sh!t outta you while your sitting on the toilet smoking? lol i mean c'mon man.

maybe the game will stop,or pause if you access the in game XMB.. it does that to alot of games so maybe this one.

either way i might just grab this either way for myself since they said its mainly for hardcore gamers as i am a hardcore gamer myself.

im just hoping for some more gameplay footy or something i can base my decision more off of.

I guess you can type a note to leave on your dead body saying how you died or where to go or something like that.

This game will rock,sony lent half team ico to help out on this AND IT SHOWS!!.Like white knight story,which i give 9.4,on third playthrough now,just wish i spoke japanese lol.but you can order the chinese english version of this "i have".Also getting yakusa 3"which is bloody everything gta should have been!". one thing i have learned,when looking at youtube and a 60" plasma,please dont judge games on youtube,just use it to get a general idea of what the game is like,when i got wks, after seeing youtube vids of it wasnt expecting much, BUT IT BLOODY BLEW ME AWAY!!! roll on ff13"japanese version, november".

There are 2 versions of demons souls.
There is the japanese version,and the chinese english,version,which i have on preorder.the chinese version is full english i think,like the hong kong game show showed.

Sorry for double post,but just wanted peps who carnt wait"like me"to get it as soon as it comes out.and i loved kings field too.

This is exactly the kind of RPG I've been waiting for. Bleak, serious, and puts your strategic skills to the test. The art style gives me an Oblivion-meets-Berserk vibe. I'm getting tired of the generic, baby-faced, brightly-coloured JRPGs that's coming from Japan nowadays.

Now, all we need is a true next-gen Shin Megami Tensei RPG, and I'll be satisfied.
