Killzone 2: "I Have To Believe" writes"I'll try and keep this short because my fingers are not in tandem with my brain at the moment, after spending xx number of hours playing the review code of Killzone 2, I cannot help but say it was one of the most exhilarating experiences in my gaming lifetime. I had forced myself to keep low expectations, since I had been dismayed numerous times by the so called heavy hitters on every platform and the incessant amount of hype that was thrust upon me by the so called mainstream and intellectually simulating gaming press."

The story is too old to be commented.

About time the FPS bar was raised!

TheTwelve3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

I've never seen so many "reviews of reviews" for a game before. It's like these writers HAVE to say something or they will burst. Amazing.

P.S. I'm getting Killzone tomorrow so that I can get the background.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I believe this article was written by the same guy who wrote about Killzone's good looks wooing too many.

bmatthews3614d ago

yet another person blow away by the raw, pure awesome that is Killzone 2.

MasFlowKiller3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Watching Killzone 2 videos online remind me of the first time i saw COD4 back at E3 2 years ago, at that time it was like the best looking game in any console.

After i got it i felt dirty, i could not believe how good the SP was, How incredible the MP was and how the controller melted in my head,

leaving the SP aside for killzone that the felling i got after i got my hands on the beta

retrofly3614d ago

I thought the SP was a linier snooze fest eaxctly like ALL the other COD games.

MP is where it shines, infact where all COD games do. I havn't even started the [email protected] SP campaighn.

They should just get rid of SP and spend more time devloping MP :)

...not "creative" or "innovative" but what it does it does better than anyone else.

...And I'm still not trusting most sites. I'm just tired of the B.S. and sensational articles for hits.

I'm still waiting until I get a copy in my hands as well.

I usually don't lie to myself... unless I'm flexing in the mirror.

dude, I think everyone is entitled to have an opnion, I must say I am usually hard pressed when it comes reviewing games and notice too many things that are usually left out of reviews, but this game made me see something that I had longed to do since the days of Shogo: Mobile Armor Division and red faction II...brought back all my memories...

Gue13614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

WTF? Are you a Sony hater or something? GOD invented the QTE(isn't this innovative?), it had an epic story(isn't this creatiev?), amazing level design and graphics(creativity?)... The only bad thing GOD have is the button-masher battle system but it was on par with games like DMC (but not Ninja Gaiden).

games4fun3614d ago

as much as i like god of war your wrong about the QTE

one word: SHENMUE on dreamcast, one of the most underrated games in gaming history, open world and a great story and attention to detail never seen before.

pixelsword3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

I've read about games with "impossibly high" learning curves, bad controls that weren't bad, or "stupid" AI when a lot of reviewers on many websites do the same thing: drop the game down to easy and blow through it just to do a review; or deduct from a score when anything advanced or complicated hinders them from getting a review out before they have to. Very few people play games like that, so it behooves me that reviewers judge on such criteria. I've seen that for the control scheme of Mass Effect, and the player controls for Lair. Neither of those games were flawed, but because a review has a deadline, people shot down both of those games for their menus and controls, respectively.

So, it's nothing personal; and definitely not against you: if you noticed I accepted your assessment, but rejected outright trust of just about all sites.

Nowadays, I tend to look over most reviews after I play the game; just to see who's on the up-and-up.

pixelsword3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Sony wanted him to do something "creative" or "innovative" be he wanted to make something using core gaming principles that made a "great" game instead of an "innovative" game that wouldn't be fun to play.

If you're such a sony lover, you would've known that, or do I need to give you a link?

And please, don't give me metacritic links; that site has skewed data on it as well.

Dark General3614d ago

Yeah you're wrong about the QTE thing. Shenmue and Sword of the Berserker: Guts Rage both on the Dreamcast. I remember someone telling me about a game on Saturn that had QTE as well. So it's not the first, it just popularized it.

But i have to disagree God of War is very creative. The level design is top notch, the puzzles and the story are all very creative. I'd even say how the boss battles were pulled off was also creative. Probably not innovative (as much as i LOVE GoW) but damn it, it does everything right. Though i do wish there was a bit deeper combat system.

divideby03614d ago

it has been know for a long time, that KZ2 or any shooter this gen will NOT revolutionize the FPS genre.
A personal friend has the review copy and hands down best FPS he has played, so he tells me.
He said you pick up the game and will NOT stop playing it

m-s-8-23614d ago

Dragons Lair was released in like 1982 or something.

Sarcasm3614d ago

"Shogo: Mobile Armor Division"

ahhhh memories indeed. Monolith productions best old work.

pixelsword3614d ago

Those controls weren't flawed at all. I got all gold medals before the patch came out, but since this game had "innovative" and "creative" controls, people reacted like a caveman looking at a Lexus: they didn't understand it, so they tried to destroy it.

You know biased media will nitpicked this game to death. They're so strung up on the PS3 this generation that they forget how great the games that comes along. I love my PS3 and i'm happy that Sony keeps giving me the games I have enjoyed these past few years for the PS3. And I know Killzone 2 will be one of those games. With that said.....
