Stringer Tries To Turn Sony's Distress To Advantage

As the consumer electronics giant projects its first yearly net loss in 14 years, the impetus for a turnaround is strong.

For its Welsh-born CEO, the crisis may now be sufficient impetus for him to press the reset button on the consumer electronics giant, in an attempt to turn the business around.

"It's a chance to restructure, and Stringer as a non-Japanese has the chance to make some drastic changes," said Mitsushige Akino, a fund manger at Ichiyoshi Investment Management in Tokyo. Investors, noted Akino, will be watching to see what he does in the next business year.
