No, I would rather have a silly, colorful, over-the-top, FUN game.

You can keep your new serious snowboarding game EA; it's no SSX.

TheDCD4857d ago

Problem is, it would've probably been just like On Tour and SSX 3. Not entirely bad, but some folks would think it's just running the usual route.

TheDCD is absolutely right. I am one of those who would think "not the exact same mountains with a little better graphics again". Love the idea of Freeriding as I do it a lot and guess it is the right move to sacrifice the old Funfaction for the new trend you can witness here: www.zapiks.com for example. Much more potential customers I´d say.

Would say SSX influenced the sport in a certain way - the sport itself and the material improved drastically during the last years - now they give this improvement back to the gaming series. A great development imo. And SSX will be SSX in concern of the characters talk, humor and soundtrack. I don´t doubt that! Look there is a citation of an older article by Peter Moore:

“An entire genre was born from the original SSX a decade ago, and it’s time to reboot one of the most popular franchises of all-time in an unpredictable and unexpected way. Fans have been begging for this since the launch of this generation of consoles, and we have an experience that will be worth the wait. This franchise has always been about racing, tricks, characters and fun – SSX: Deadly Descents will deliver all of that, and more, on a global scale, with rich online experiences, and with the sense of adventure never before imagined on a snowboard.”

I guess I will just miss the option to take ski as alternative to the board if I read Moores comment posted above...

Hmm, now this is quite interesting, but I don't know how they'll find the time to do it, since they are working on a new Need For Speed. We'll wait and see I guess!!

Blaze9295219d ago

Well they've done racing, FPS, handling Need for Speed, and now...snowboarding? If true, I'd love to see how they handle SSX. Too bad EA shut down EA Sports BIG

mal_tez925219d ago

An HD version would be awesome

RockmanII75219d ago

I don't give a sh1t about Black, NFS, or SSX. Just give me another Burnout.

Braineater24485219d ago

I really hope this is true. Snowboard games are so underrated.

garos825219d ago

i will go nuts if ithis is true!

i loved all the ssx games on ps2.imagine them in HD 60fps tearing through that mountain! bliss

guitarded775219d ago

Yeah, I could get excited for a good SSX game... but it has to be good like the 1st and 3rd games.

thereapersson5219d ago

The first SSX on the PS2 was one of the best games I played all generation. I hope they rekindle the old flame in a BIG way! (pun intended, lol)

bmw695219d ago

Woah awesome news! I think the SSX series is one of the best out there

jack_burt0n5219d ago

Lol so criterion is doing a new NFS burnout, Roadrash and SSX ummm ok well if they have the staff they are the one developer that can pull them all off.

Hope all the sports big guys have moved in, and we want ssx tricky 2 not all that open mountain crap!!!! :)

Bizarre Creations: Blur is Call of Duty for Racers

In the conference call that followed Activision Blizzard's financial results yesterday, a couple of details emerged about Bizarre Creations' racing game, Blur.

Firstly, the president and CEO of the company's publishing unit, Michael Griffith, confirmed that the company plans to release the game in the back half of calendar 2009. Good news, given that it's nearly two years since Activision snapped Bizarre away from the Project Gotham series and details on the project are still thin on the ground.
