GameCyte: High Voltage Hot Rod Show Review

"High Voltage Hot Rod Show" (HVHRS) seems like a game with a challenging AI and a decent difficulty curve. Then, you read the actual instructions, and never lose another race.

Named (presumably) for its developer, High Voltage Software, HVHRS is a WiiWare racer that definitely skews towards the "arcade" end of the realism scale. Heavy vehicles like monster trucks and SUVs fly around curves, utilize flaming boosters, and leap dozens of feet into the air as they race around six different tracks. With over-the-top hillbilly characters and an upbeat, honky-tonk/rock soundtrack, HVHRS is certainly aimed at the madcap action gamer, rather than the precise simulation enthusiast. (High Voltage Hot Rod Show, Wii) 2/5
