WhatTheyPlay Review: Skate 2

Skate 2 follows the success of 2007's Skate, which plucked the skateboarding crown from the long-reigning Tony Hawk series. Skate's allure lies in its uncompromisingly realistic approach to the sport, which combines convincing physics and animations with an elegant control layout. Players control their skater's basic movement with the left analog stick, while using the right stick to accomplish a variety of tricks through various flicking motions. The learning curve can be steep, but does an admirable job of communicating and teaching some of the fundamentals of skateboarding.
