2009's Dark Horse Console Launch: Zeebo

No consoles are launching in 2009, right? Not so. Brazilian manufacturer Tectoy, most notable outside of South America for its long partnership with Sega and official distribution of its consoles in Brazil, will be releasing an entirely original product called Zeebo.

Gamasutra recently had a chance to talk to Zeebo Inc. CEO John Rizzo, who heads up the operations in North America.

Interesting, it is somewhere between those electronic games and an actual console. I'm curious as to how well it'll fare against the PS2, which pretty much has all the bases covered for SD gaming.

Looks like we won't be seeing it out of Latin America, but I understand that there must be a large market for something like the Zeebo there.

Just some mobile ports at the moment, and I'll be interested to see if/when they get some original content.

Year of the PS3, year of the 360, year of the Wii? No this is the year of the Zeebo and it marks all the other consoles downfall. PS3, Wii, and 360 obviously cannot compete in the SD gaming that the Zeebo offers.

Then again, even the N-Gage is better than the 360.
