Co-op play rules in best games of 2008

The biggest game trend over this past year was multiplayer play - but rather than competitive head-to-head matches, 2008 was all about getting your game on in "co-op mode" with a friend beside you or over the Internet.

As one would expect, cooperative play lets gamers work together, allowing two or more to experience the same adventure at the same time - whether it's Microsoft Game Studios' fantasy role-playing game Fable II (for Microsoft Xbox 360), Nintendo's cartoon life simulation Animal Crossing: City Folk (for Nintendo Wii) or Sony Computer Entertainment's adorable puzzler LittleBigPlanet (for Sony PlayStation 3). In fact, some LBP challenges can only be completed with a second person, such as when one player stands on a weighted switch while another jumps on a pulley to open a castle door.
