Sony's PlayStation Portable Is "Teh Doomed"? I Don't Think So

G4TV writes:

"Pretty much every day, a reader (several really) of TheFeed says that Sony's PlayStation Portable is "teh doomed". Gamers are a passionate and opinionated bunch that often post rash opinions on the Internet. These opinions sometimes lack rational thought and/or solid data to back them up, so it's easy for me to overlook them. It's part of the game and I get it -- I actually love it when readers take the time to share their thoughts, even if I think they're dead wrong. When other writers in the gaming business say that the PSP is "teh doomed", it irks me. One reader of TheFeed showed me this ridiculous editorial by Yahoo! Games' Mike Smith called "Goodbye, Sony PSP". It's one of the dumbest articles I've read in the last six months."

As I keep on saying, it wouldn't do neither developers or the PSP any harm to make more and varied genre games on the PSP now, its a handheld multimedia and game powerhouse.

More retro compilations would also be acceptable, those are real value for money such as Sega Megadrive Collection, Metal Slug Anthology, Capcom Classics Reloaded/Remixed, Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars and Powerstone Collection, are very welcome, get down on it.

Heck, even the DD Bionic Commando: Rearmed would be a fantastic game to have on the go on PSP as Remote Play shows.

Also, where are the PSone games? I hope the money revenue for Home goes towards getting more classics uploaded for PSP/PS3.

The Playstation Brand isn't going anywhere and if you really, truthfully with all your heart believe it is, then I'm sorry... but you're stupid.

goflyakite3449d ago

No, I heard on the internet that pretty much everything to do with Sony is doomed.

psp in america...is doomed....everywhere else it is fine

heyheyhey3449d ago

isn't it still doing several hundred thousand every month in America?

Unicron3449d ago

No, the PSP is not doomed. But it COULD use a more consistent flow of quality software outside the RPG genre, IMHO.

I love me PSP.

That's why Motorstorm, Resistance, LittleBigPlanet, and Gran Turismo are coming out for the PSP.

I would pay hundreds of dollars for a Devil May Cry on PSP also...

Anyone else?

the PSP has too many RPGs? the PS3 has too few RPGs? oh boy, it's a good job Sony just gets on with their jobs and doesn't read stupid sites like this. i know you love your PSP but just stop to think for one moment and consider that perhaps subliminally you are a victim of all the negative press that is put around.

I don't know if you realise, but not everyone in the world likes playing RPGs, some more puzzle, shooters, racers or platformers would be welcome, someone other than Rockstar should tackle a sandbox game too.
Most of the games out right now are RPGs or Jap focused games, I bought my PSP for titles like Daxter, Medievil Res, R&C:SM, the GTAs etc not RPGs, I cannot on the whole stand RPGs.
A majority of games in a genre you do not like does not make a PSP owners library the most entertaining seeing they won't play them.

@LeonSKennedy4Life
I can't wait for that lot.

Oh dear god. Grow up people. I love my PSP. It's probably one of my favorite consoles due to sheer versatility. Yeah, I hacked it, but I will NOT use that for anything outside of SNES and Genesis emulation. I gladly PAY for all my PSP games, and WILL not pirate them. Titles like Crush, Crisis Core, God of War, Daxter are all great. I just want more! LATELY, it feels like there hasn't been a big title FOR ME to look forward to.

Dissidia doesn't interest me personally, and I can't wait if the rumors of Jak IV being a PSP title are true. All I'm saying is, I think it could use more games. But then again, what system couldn't? More is never a bad thing. If you take that as a knock against the PSP, especially after I spend time defending ALL systems, then this site really IS run by touchy people.

Cajun Chicken3449d ago

Bingo, exactly the same here.

Well, except for having my PSP CFW.
