LittleBigPlanet: 1.3 million sold, 300k levels created

"LittleBigPlanet has sold 1.3 million copies worldwide, with over 300,000 levels created."

[UPDATE] - It has been pointed out that the 1.3 million number is in fact in reference to the amount of unique gamers playing LittleBigPlanet online. Unless every LittleBigPlanet owner has an online account, then we can presume that the game has sold over 1.3 million.

Should have sold alot more than that.

Xbox Street Gang3359d ago

I don't think Sony includes the bundles. Which many people bought with LBP.

What kind of a person tries to downplay a million-selling new IP's performance at retail? Bah humbug, this game is a hit, plain and simple.

Pennywise3359d ago

Should of and will, quick draw.

Bill3359d ago

Looks like this is well on its way to having great sales numbers. especially since its looking to beat all of Team Green's best exclusives, sales wise, except for the GEOW games

eagle213359d ago

If you can stomach it. Take Pepto first.

LBP ftw!

heyheyhey3359d ago

anyone stopped to think that Capt CHAOS meant in correlation with the quality of the game?

probably not though, just trolling

Stubacca3359d ago

I think LBP is the greatest thing since toasted sanwiches. Love the game so much. Love making levels. Love Media Molecule.

Shame it hasn't sold as well as it could. But it's a sleeper. And it won't go away.

"1.3M? Should have sold alot more than that."

Banjoe Kazooie is already an established franchise, and I seriously doubt that even it has sold a million because Microsoft hasn't said anything about it recently. Even though Nuts and Bolts had literally no hype, I think Banjoe should have sold more because it is already an established Million seller franchise... but of course, we all know that Banjoe being on the Xbox 360 is holding back it's sales.

LBP selling over a million copies in about a month- month and a half is great, AND it's a new IP.

People need to stop calling LBP a flop just because it didn't sell a Million copies in a week despite the hype that it recieved.

LBP selling over a million and Banjoe on the 360 not selling a million to me just goes to show that more PS3 gamers are open minded to different types of games.

masterg3359d ago

Last I Checked LBP was close to 2 million worldwide and close to 1 million in EU alone.

pixelsword3359d ago

...and I'll show you a game that will last for years to come.

Parapraxis3359d ago

"More than 1.3 million "unique users" have played "LittleBigPlanet." Note that this is not the same as Sony saying it has sold 1.3 million units of the game. There are more than 300,000 user-created levels already. It would take two straight years, non-stop, to play them all."

happyface3359d ago

wait until the soccer moms get a hold of it

then the casuals will roll in next

then ps3 sells 40 million consoles and beats Wii

thats the power of little planet

theEnemy3359d ago

Looks like almost 60-70% of PS3 users didn't know what they are missing eh ?

Oh well, 1.3 million PS3 gamers knows what to buy.

TOO PAWNED3359d ago

DUDE, that is 1.3 million in little over one full month. How can that be bad? new IP in fall sells 1.3. New genre, people are sceptical to buy it, and still sells so well.

likedamaster3359d ago

It's been a little over 2 months too pwned. Look it up. Not bad for a new IP. I'm still not getting it. It's just not my type of game.

Kinetix3359d ago

"Hirai also reveals that over 300,000 LittleBigPlanet levels have been created, which represents a total playing time of over two years. Now that's a staggering stat."

I just added that to emphasize your point enemy.

ezcex3359d ago (Edited 3359d ago )

This is 1.3 in the U.S right? Isn't it close to 1 Million already in Europe?

edit: damn, that sucks, it's such a fun game.
