CES 2009: Nvidia shows off 3D glasses with Left 4 Dead

Ars Technica had a chance to briefly check out Sony's take on 3D gaming yesterday, but Sony wasn't the only company trying to get in on the action. Nvidia was showing off its own technology with its 3D Vision glasses, and unlike Sony's proof of concept display, Nvidia's setup was both playable and ready for purchase. The game on display? Left 4 Dead.

Seems like it, as if we even need another game. :)

edit: I posted because of "3D", I could care less for L4D. EA will decide, stop being hurt that all you have is timed exclusives.

Just another company realizing Sony is on to something and trying to capitalize. Gang Green has to do something though...especially since they are still trying to catch games like Lair graphically

Sony PS3s 3D concept is commercial and is available for the all the PS3 users for a commercially viable price.

Negative article from fanboy fails yet again.

neg it will be up to Valve to determine if they want to port it to ps3. It's not EA's game it's Valves. EA was just in charge of publishing it on 360.

You people blowing Sony like you were on their payroll are pathetic. I was playing games with 3D glasses for my Quantum3D Banshee video card back in 1999. If Sony thinks they're even close breaking new ground with this, you're high.

You do realize that Nvidia had 3D glasses for about 10 years now? This "technology" is nothing new. I was running 3D glasses with Nvidia Stereo drivers way back in the original Half-Life/Unreal Tournament days. You can even download their drivers right now and start playing.... using it with ANY game, at ANY resolution, on ANY monitor/Tv.

I bought them for like $50 and still have them... although they're dusty. If anything, SONY is the one digging up ancient technology for profit.

Do your homework before opening your trap.

@Leathersoup: Glad someone knows what they're talking about!

Left4Dead Ps3..

D R E A M O N !

You see, Valve only supports good crap and Ps3 falls in the category of SUCK.

Left for Dead is bound to be ported by EA anyway, this is interesting albeit pricey, it makes me wonder though, how far ahead was Sony actually thinking?

InMyOpinion3242d ago

All this talk about 3D reminds me of the virtual reality hype back in the 90's. I still believe next gen will be about virtual reality. Gloves and helmets ftw!

Do not want. Will take the fun and skills away.

heyheyhey3242d ago
