It emerged last night that industry veteran Ziff Davis Media and Publishing has quit the business altogether, whilst magazine EGM has closed, and website 1UP sold has been to UGO.
Real shame, this. RIP Ziff. :'(
I'm still suscribed. Oh well, it's just 34 bucks minus the issues I already got LOL My bet is that most of the Xbox fanboys at 1up will end up at either Gamespot, Giant Bomb or Gametrailers (unless Edge and Eurogamer are willing to import them) or some other Xbox branded magazine, while the Sony fanboys (Shane Bettenhausen and...?) will be hired by either Game Informer, GamePro or some PlayStation branded magazine. The unbiased journalists (were there any?) could/should go to IGN. I don't think there are Nintendo fanboys in journalism except Matt Cassamassina, he should leave IGN and work with Nintendo Power (he'd be better off anyway).
And all the PS3 fanboys will end up here - since this seems to be where they conjugate mostly.
no, all the MS fanboys from there will certainly conjugate here and we'll have mutliple POGs, MARTs and the rest of those crew. see, I can say ridiculous things too.
HEY - come up with your own material. Don't steal mine and then regurgitate it back with no delivery. Amateurs.
Just so you know, the EGM staff knew they were going to get laid off and they finished one last glorious issue. It's due out soon, and may be a tear jerker. You have been warned...
R.I.P., Computer Gaming World. How I will dearly miss thee... :*(

egm was one of my favorite mags growing up. Its a damb shame it has come to this. I hope for the best to the staff. Im sure they will get picked up by other gaming Mags out there.
I can't even count how many EGM's I've bought from the stands..It's been routine for years and years..but I ain't going to lie..it's kind of Karma..for all of those games that unjustly fell to the EGM review sword..other than a few must buy mags..Internet killed print..go figure..I just bought the last EGM the other day..
I will you 1UP and EGM. The majority of the 1UP staff have also been fired, and all the podcasts have now ended. Awful. :(
I will miss the 1up podcast!. Sad sad day
The saddest news (besides 40 people losing their jobs): No more 1up Yours...
If you read the story, 1UP still exists. It was sold to UGO.
What are they gonna do with it? Shut it down? Keep it the way it is?
this is big, what is going to happen to the always biased ps3 exclusive reviews? Gonna miss 'em. I mean, it's f!cking 1UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1UP still exists! Read!
All podcasts and the 1UP show have been cancelled. Besides, they laid off the two producers of the 1UP show.
People forget that sites like these takes away people's jobs. I still order magazines for pictures, reviews, and to give someone a job.. Nuff said
Site like this? Sites like this don't exist without magazines and blogs and other peoples' opinions. N4G doesn't have any unique/original content so it NEEDS media like egm/1up to exist. Now, if egm and 1up can't produce good enough material to sell, that's got nothing to do with n4g or metacritic. It's not like somebody goes to walmart, sees egm sitting there, and decides NOT to get it because he can go home and get on n4g.
@TheOrganicCell: You know dude, you made me think about it... Through recent years I relied on web pages reading news, reviews and stuff forgetting about all those great years when I was younger, spending my allowance on gaming mags, reading them several times, watching pictures all over again and thinking thoroughfully how it would be great to play those games on consoles I didn't have already(and couldn't afford yet). And you know what, I'm gonna subscribe for some mags again.
LMAO, its true. I still have my nintendo power magazine with TMNT-(Nes) strategy guide in it (showing its 2d map side of the levels)..lol Good times it was back then.
Really?! This is a ps3 vs 360 smackdown site. Nothing more.
After 2-3 years of high profile departures this can't be too big a surprise can it? I mean if everything was so great they wouldn't have left. That said, I'll miss the 1up yours podcast the most. It really is the best gaming podcast around imho.
man, i will miss egm. but compared to the other magz like play, gi etc. egm always had the skimpiest mag every month. i wonder if that ugly pic of wolverine on the cover of the last mag had anything to do with it..
sold to microsoft where 1up can truly show it's true color.
One thing i noticed about the site is its ratings system sucked the content sucked and so did the interface sloppy as hell ,RIP but guess what you did it to your selves ,NErds!!
Later taters. You won't be missed
Even though I am now shafted and lost my money via subscription to EGM I am thrilled to say goodbye to the bias tripe these fools dolled out left and right. HALE2K
i beleive alot of playstation gamers got pissed off at theyre reviews and content. most of my friends i know just keep goin on and on about how wrong and how much lies they bring forth all against the ps3. etc , etc and that they hardly go to the site anymore. i recall the time when they stopped doing psp version of the 1upshow. dnot get be started , he would moan about that also as i used to say , yo got any new episodes of 1up on ur psp. n he be like NO . they dont do it.. anyway im talkin bit much. just how things go i guess
I had two years of free subscriptions for EGM.
