A year where, for many, home entertainment was a wonderful respite from the dreary, distressing reality of economic crisis. Staying in really was the new going out in these belt-tightening times and the game industry somehow garnered the accolade of being "recession proof". A complete fallacy, of course. Just ask EA, who had to shut down several areas of their business. Or Free Radical Design, a British developer who slipped into the ether after just one flop (the admittedly terrible FPS, Haze)."
