MGS creator dreams up wacky virtual undeadfest

Hideo Kojima, head of Konami's super-studio, Kojima Productions, and the brain behind the Metal Gear Solid series, has laid bare his own bizarre and exciting vision of an online multiplayer zombie game during an interview with Edge magazine.

Kojima goes on to explore his idea, stressing that he'd like to offer a "truly online version" of the zombocalypse. "Imagine a large town where half the inhabitants are zombies. Users would subscribe, get inside the town and get bitten. At that stage they become undead and can't control their character - all they can do is modify the camera angles." So far, so very, very Kojima.

"They'd see their character attacking humans and have to pay just to watch!" Koj continues. "The only way they could end it is by opening another account, hunting themselves down and killing themselves. Of course, the problem is that your second character can get bitten as well."

I love me the zombie games!!! I bought the gamecube just for Resident Evil. Anyway for all your kids that out there...Return of the Living Dead! Best zombie move ever.

imagine buying a game, then having to subscribe to it (i could handle this) but everytime you die you have to subscribe again.

sound like a rip off to me but i do like the idea of the game.

dead rising could have been like this game if they had included an online mode & got rid of the stupid save method.

I was thinking the same thing... I like what he's talking about, except for the whole "open another account if your character gets bit" thing...

I hear you on that FirstknighT!

Also, in the Edge interview, Kojima was asked what he now thinks of the next-gen consoles. When asked how is the PS3, he answered

Quote:

"I'm not developing on Ps3 because it is the best piece of hardware. That's not my approach. You could find a similar level of power on PC and I think the Xbox 360 could deliver a similar visual result. I am very interested in next generation consoles, about what they can deliver in terms of experience."

MGS4 for 360, PC ?

When asked on the PS3 pretty flat performance so far, Kojima reckons that only FF13 will BOOST PS3 sales!

Edge magazine is probably the BEST gaming mag out there atm (in the u.k anyway), I'd highly recommend it to ANYONE.

If anyone could pull off such an idea, it would be Kojima. Definitely sounds fun.
