How to play Windows 98 games on Vista

Sometimes it pays to go old school, particularly now that Vista has rendered a number of undeniably ace games completely unplayable.

Now, you could go the easy route – running such games in Vista's built-in compatibility mode – right-click the game's .EXE file, click 'Properties' then choose the Compatibility tab, but some obscure titles don't even play nicely with compatibility mode – you're going to need an old OS to get them running.
