Good news: Capcom's Resident Evil 5 cooperative gameplay mode will support split-screen play so that two gamers can play from one television. The bad news: that screenshot up there is what splitscreen will look like on your television.
That stinks. I hope there are diff. options of split screen and not just that. Never de less if it becomes unpleasant to my eyes, it will suffer the sever consequences. AKA trading the game in. This will not stop me from buying it.
because even though this is a mild inconvenience we still have online co-op, thats key
"Update: Reader ryu89 pointed out that he experienced no such issues when playing the demo made available on the Japanese Xbox LIVE Marketplace. I went back and switched my console to 480i standard resolution and sure enough, the screen is split in a different manner. However, the screen is split as shown above when running in 720p, 1080i, and 1080p." (referring to the blackbarred screenshot) uhh i've played the demo from the LIVE marketplace in 1080p and i have no such bars when i play w/ my bro, i may just fire up the demo and grab some shots in action of local co-op just to prove it...my 360 is hooked up w/ components so could it be a connection thing???
Just like Call of Duty 5.
They wouldn't think of putting the two screens aligned? no! Money first, quality after.
Works great on Resistance 2. I'm sure this one will be fine.
Oh god R2 does this? EEEEW
4:3 res whenever I play resistance 2 to get full screen spit screen. Personal diary excerpt 53: It seems that my previous accounts of my adventures (save for a couple excerpts) have been lost to that villain that calls himself Jack Thompson. No matter, for I have decimated his village and taken his treasures. However, this one treasure seems strange. Different from the others. It was at the back of the village, and I had to make my way past several undead that were summoned by Thompson's evil shamans. I defeated these evil beings and found that the treasure required two people to lift. However, the handholds were in such strange places that it took more effort than necessary to move it to the convoy. Such a bad design of this treasure cannot be excused. I am not sure if it will be worth much back in the Homeland, but for what it took to reach it, I will not abandon it.
That looks awful
Looks more like playing the game being messed up on PCP.
the same style, and its awful! I was already worried that slpit screen would be unplayable... sorta inevitable
A friend came over yesterday so I fired up COD and bam two little screens that don't take up the entire screen. Talk about a rip off whats up with that? Halo, Resistance, and Gears all do it fine so why does COD and now maybe RE5 have to screw it up?
why the f*ck is splitscreen being done like this?
i dunno cod [email protected] was the same way and that was retarded how they set it up
I think they want both screens to be the same size ratio as the single player experience. (not saying I like this way, just pointing that out)
because they want your little "buddy" to buy a copy of their game as well. They want you to realize that offline split-screen is $hit, so both of you have buy it AND have an online connection so you can fully experience the so-called co-op mode.
I dont under stand why? I play my games on a 17" hdtv. haha now ill be playing re5 with a friend on 4" thats gay.
...............the only thing that separates one from an other is a mere perfectly cut horizontal division in the center of the screen, no resizing, shrinking, or black bars or anything like that...............capcon should have been taking notes on that.
If they leave it like this for the retail game........a beating is in order. Split screen means just that, a split screen.
There goes my purchase. I buy my games based on split-screen co-op and if games like Gears 2 can do it, I don't see why other games like RE5 can't. Oh well, Capcom: you just lost one customer.
Then I not getting the game either.
Anything beats vertical split screen
But,my Halo 3 split screen co-op was a bit like this too?I wasnt sure if it was my tv or something? At the time was a 32' Samsung LCD. . . I just zoomed in a bit, then the black bars were gone. But this is bs.
i kind of dont care, as long as it has splitscreen.
Same here, after playing COD:WaW for a few minutes, I got over the way the screen was set up.
send it back for repairs. i think its supposed to create the illusion that your looking at separate/slip screens slightly slide apart from one another, like when a razor sharp Katana cuts wood or bamboo in half, it pauses then splits and slightly slides apart letting you know its been cut and separated, same idea except its just stupid when implemented here. weird example i know, but close enuff
it doesnt look like that, i played the demo already its vertical split screen, this thing is a lie
If so Im getting it for the PS3.
Here is the explanation as to why R2 has the black bars, I'll assume Capcom is doing this with RE5 for the same reasons. In split-screen mode there are "black bars" on the side of the screen/the game appears in 4:3 aspect ratio. This is not a bug, this is intentional and was done for various reasons. Be sure to be mindful of burn-in possibilities. Here is the reason why: Quote from: igRossMcIntosh on October 16, 2008, 02:46:18 PM When making top/bottom splitscreen, your options are: 1 - Cut each screens vertical field of vision in half compared to single screen 2 - Put black bars on the left and right of the screen 3 - Increase the horizontal field of vision for each screen by 2x compared to single screen 4 - Render all the way to the sides but use a distorted field of vision Options 1 makes it extremely hard to see, option 4 gives people headaches and looks weird (wall-eyed), and option 3 means that you're actually rendering 4x as much as you are in single screen so you can't possibly run with a good framerate, so we went with option 2. http://www.myresistance.net...
This game is gonna be awesome. i not gonna moan about how the split screen looks cause i think it is good that they have put split screen in
looks kinda like a ds
...the more I am thinking about renting it. First news on zombies wielding machine guns, now this. Although it's awesome, I sure hope RE4 isn't the best in the series. That would be sad.
