zergwatch writes: "The million copy club is an exclusive group, which only 6 titles claimed membership in 2008."
The article is true and there were only 6 games to break the 1 million mark on the 360 throughout 2008 that's a sad commentary. I can name 5 PS3 exclusives that sold 1 million plus in 2008. R2, M2, LBP, MGS4, and GT5:P If you throw in the multiplats you have around ten 1 million+ sellers.
The one with the most advertising? Just a quess
I don't know how else to say it but that this article is just wrong... even if you only look at US sales, all of the numbers are severely underestimated. VgChartz shows 16 titles that have sold more than 1 million this year on the 360 in the US alone. If you factor in the whole world, I imagine it's much more than that, even.
VG Charts is always wrong... Just because they have 16 in 2008 does not mean that 16 actually exist!
"R2, M2, LBP, MGS4, and GT5:P" MGS4 mayby a million dollar seller... R2, M2, LBP, and GT5:P probably not million dollar sellers in USA
1.5 for fable and ears 2? That's the same as resistance 2.
To be fair, the numbers quoted in the article are US only. The R2 numbers are worldwide. In that arena Gears 2 is sitting at or near 3 million while Fable 2 is at or a little under 2 million. However, these totals will vary depending on the source--the article has US sales at 1.5. As does the NPD numbers. While VGChartz is showing Gears 2 has 2.45 million US sales. ----------
Because they hit 3million sales at the start of december. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
You sure this article was not written by a Sony fan that wanted to make himself feel good? In order to be able to say things like, "look... Gears of War 2 sold only 1.5 million"... This article is inaccurate! http://www.videogamer.com/n... "According to the NPD Group, Gears of War 2 sold 1.56 million units in November and was closely followed by Activision's Call of Duty: World at War on Xbox 360 which shifted 1.41 million units." Gears sold 1.4 million during the first 24 hours! These numbers were from November... http://www.videogamer.com/n... "The first Gears of War title reached three million units sold in approximately ten weeks, while the sequel has reached this milestone mark in only four weeks. The original title has sold five million units to date." So, "1.5 for fable and ears 2? That's the same as resistance 2. " WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! Regardless of what this misinformed and misleading article... Can one of you sony fan show a link that says that any game on the PS3 was able to sale 3 million copies in 4 weeks? or 5 Million copies like Gears 1.
MGS4 sold 3 million in two weeks, quicker than gears - but Metal gear is a huge franchise with a dedicated fanbase even if the older metal gears were classed as a niche game. http://uk.ps3.ign.com/artic... "US, June 26, 2008" The game came out on june 12th.
It seems like these numbers should be way higher. Although the article doesn't say worldwide or just U.S. Not very professional. and the source is listed as "anonymous". Mysterious........
If MS wasn't using a last-gen optical drive. Their games are so easily pirated, that games that aren't even out yet are already available in the numerous torrent sites. There's even a new hack now for non-Hitachi optical drive to play "back-up"/homebrew games.
I am sure MS thanks you for your concern.
they have gow2 as 1.5 mili but its all ready know it sold 2 mili on day one
Millions of xbox 360's in homes and only a million+ games get sold for 6 games. That goes to show not every game appeals to everyone.
