Is the hardcore base fading? If you had to base it on this year alone, the answer would be a resounding YES! While there were games out there for rest of us (i.e. Fable 2, Fallout 3, Spore, LittleBigPlanet, MGS 4), the Wii and its lineup are laughing all the way to the bank. Since November of 2006, the Wii has sold 15.4 million consoles in the US alone.
In the month November 2008, Four of the games made for the console were in the Top 10 best sellers. Wii Play took No.3 with more than 796,000 units sold, Wii Fit at No. 4 with more 697,000 units sold, Mario Kart grabbing No.5 with 637,000 units sold, and near the rear was Wii Music at No. 9 with more than 297,000 sold. With these games Nintendo has grabbed the spending power of the casual gaming scene and ran off into the night with it.
