God of War II Reviewed by 1up and IGN

First out with their reviews of God of War II are 1up and IGN.

"And really, that's not much of a disappointment considering that the framework all this is laid on is a game we scored a 10 a while back. But it does play into the fears that some have expressed about the game not being a proper sequel, given its release on PS2 rather than PS3. (Though to counter that, it's nearly impossible to argue that this isn't the prettiest and one of the most ambitious games to come out for PS2.)

So it may not be a revolutionary title in quite the same way as its predecessor, but God of War 2 is a stellar example of what can be done when a developer focuses on telling a story and lets that drive the game.

Overall score : 9.5/10

"God of War II may in fact be the best action game ever made. It does the original God of War in every way, even if only by a tiny bit as the first was so good to begin with. It's a evolutionary step rather than a revolutionary leap, but it has basically perfected the formula that the original set up. If you own a PlayStation 2 (or PS3) and don't mind excessive amounts of blood, you absolutely must play this game. If you don't own a PS2, find someone who does and sit yourself down in front of their TV for 12 or so hours as you'll otherwise be missing out on one of gaming's most intense and engaging experiences available."

Overall score : 9.7/10

Woo-hoo. I was just playing God of War again, to make sure I am still familiar with the game when the second one comes out. Awesome scores, I expected nothing less. Thank god the wait is about to be over.

Why would you even compare it to Gears of War, it's silly. IGN generally review games depending on the capabilities of the platform. God of War looks great, but do you think it could get 10/10 in graphics department if it was a next-gen game on PS3? Well if it beats Gears of War, it beats Resistance to ground, eyes tied.

Again, don't be silly comparing two irrelevant games.

Calm down love - no need for that. Let him have his little bit of glory. It's a great game - and I bet gameplay wise it wips Gears of Wars asss. Both next-gen games in my eyes and both Gears of War and the God of War series are revolutionary.

Let's just hope the platforming of God of War is better this time, because after playing Prince of Persia, the platforming of God of War was a bit of a let down.

I'm ready for more "brutality with no apologies". Glad to hear high scores too, i get nervous when a game as good as God of War 1 has a sequel and the devs try too hard at making it better that they lose what made it good in the first place. Letting the story drive the game is a definite advantage this game had in the first one, so if they do it again, i'm good with it.

I hope the "time controlling" ability has its own flare so it is definitely different form Prince of Persias take on it. I'm not worried that it will ruin the game, but sometimes certain things can seem like cheap rip-offs from other great games.

I still love that boss fight with the Minotaur in god of war 1, that damn thing was so big when it steps right up into your face, it was just outrageous on my 50" widescreen tv. I can't imagine what will be in store in the sequel...CANT WAIT!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!!

Just to play these 2 games. It'll be interesting what the development team comes up with when they use the PS3.

i'd lend ya my PS2 and God game if you were local, seeing that my time is mostly spent on 360 nowadays. But the game is definitley worth playing if nothing else on PS2...
