In these days of increasingly complex, cinematic, epics, it's easy to feel as if gamers have lost something along the way. Many of the past issues have highlighted some of the great games that pay homage to out classic 2D roots. But for some, imitation isn't good enough. There's a certain authenticity that can only be replicated by classic hardware, or at least that's their premise. In the last decade, a scene has emerged, putting out new games for yesterday's systems. Atari's hardware and the Vectrex have long been favorites since their creators opened the licenses up to the public, but more and more systems are springing back to life all the time.
