Gamestyle: G1 Jockey 4 2008 review

At the end of the day, this title is an easy target for criticism. Failing to achieve any resemblance of adapting to the PS3, a niche release and a steep learning curve with added difficulty concerning the controls. Yet there is a certain appeal to this distinctive experience, one that has a great deal of depth and no doubt entertainment for those who find themselves down the bookies on regular occasions. Apart from the Grand National, Gamestyle avoids betting of any kind, G1 Jockey 4 2008 may not be our idea of a thoroughbred game, though undoubtedly there is a market for it.

Den of Geek: G1 Jockey 4 2008 PS3 review

Mike Jennings writes:

"For those who aren't enamoured with the sport of kings, however, G1 Jockey has little to recommend it. Ropey graphics are coupled with ropier gameplay: the pointless tutorials, twee and confusing career mode and learning wall, rather than curve, all go towards a title that won't hold any attraction but for the keenest of racing fans. John McCririck will love this – but we just can't recommend it for anyone else."

VGR: G1 Jockey 4 2008 Review

VG-Reloaded Writes:

"That's right, it looks almost as bad as the Wii version does. Besides adding in SIXAXIS support, there seems to be no point of the PS3 version. There are no online modes of any kind, you can apparently download certain horses from PSN but I can't see any on there at the moment. I doubt anyone would buy that content anyway, so it's pointless including it.

I know I've kept this brief, but it's more a case of me holding my tongue from what I really think about G1 Jockey 4 2008. If I carried on further, I'd have to label this review an 18+ and age gate it somehow. Instead you get a censored version and a warning...don't play this game, it needs to be put down."

GameZine: G1 Jockey 4 2008 Review

GameZine writes: "Being a games reviewer is a double edged sword - writing about a hobby that you love, getting games for free and spreading the good word about unappreciated gems is very much the side of things that gets people into the business.

The downside is that, at one time or another, every budding reviewer has to line up and take 'the bad medicine' – i.e. we have to review a rubbish game that is almost physically painful to play."
