IGN: Super Stardust Portable Review

If you're a hardcore Super Stardust HD player, Super Stardust Portable will feel totally alien to you. If you're trying this out for the first time, things won't be as tough but the game is still very clearly designed around different hardware -- it just wasn't made for the PSP. If you can get by these restrictions, you'll enjoy the download, but veterans beware.

I totally disagree with this review. The game is certainly different than SSHD on the PS3, but it's an excellent game in its own right. My only complaint would be that it doesn't have as much content as the PS3 version, but the controls are the best "dual stick" adaptation that I've ever seen on a handheld.

Man I was REALLY excited for this! The only reason I haven't bought this yet is because I'm waiting for my local GameStop to get PSN cards in stock; maybe them being sold-out was a "blessing in disguise"

SSHD is my favorite arcade/PSN game of all time and I was hoping I could get the same experience on the go:(

It's really hard for developers to adapt to the single analog stick design so the PSP 2 definitely needs dual analog sticks. I still love my original PSP 1000 though:)

...broken as IGN suggest. If you get a chance to try it out then my recommendations is to make up your own mind. Its still an extremely fun game with lots, and I mean lots going on on screen.

...with it getting a 6.5. Some of the negatives IGN point out are valid however, once you get to grips with the control scheme its actually an extremely playable game. My Son has already racked up a score of over 80 million!

Once they add an endless mode this game will be a must have. As it stands I would score it 8.0/10. Its no where near as broken as IGN try to point out.

I'm actually sick of the PSP continuously being shot down for only having one analog stick. Hell, the Nintendo does not even have one and it does pretty well for itself. Exploit the PSP for what it has and stop selling it short for what it doesn't have.
