Valve's Left 4 Dead has emerged as a sleeper multiplayer hit for Xbox 360 this winter. Many outlets, ourselves included, are having a hard time keeping it off the 2008 Game of the Year final contestants list.
Gears of War 2 an Left 4 Dead GOTY 2008 CONFIRMED tie!
"Sure it is for a one-day deal only, but 33% off a new-release game, especially a popular one, is near unheard of." Not really. If you shop around, these kinds of deals happen all the time. The PC version of Left 4 Dead sold for $20 on Amazon during the Black Friday weekend. It sold out a couple minutes after the deal went live, though.
it still not enough when the campaign is super short.
With the AI director it's never the same game twice. This game doesn't have a campaign in the traditional sense. It also has multiple paths to get from one point to another so that adds some variation. I have a feeling Valve will be doing lots of DLC with new area's in coming months. I just hope they are free or very reasonably priced considered the initial $60 and what you get with it.
Considering the amount of content in this game (or lack thereof), this game should have launched at a $40 price point. Banjo Kazooie did that and even THAT game lasted longer than L4D. I think Valve ripped off a lot of customers.
hence why I just purchased it today....couldnt justify the 60 bucks for a weak SP game and a MP game with 4 scenarios..
I'll wait until it hits around $30. Like all others. A short SP Campaign is still inexcusable. It's like Killzone 2 only having 3 hours of Campaign and GG would be like "Those $60 went towards funding the insane graphics you see, so really..you were paying for the graphics cause we felt like we gave you your money's worth already".
Anyone knows if a european 360 can read a US game? (and can a US game play with a EU game online?) Because 70€ (90$) is way too expensive for that game, but 40$ (30€) is pretty fair to me.
not all the games on 360 are region free. you can check online forums or wiki pages (like this http://wiki.xboxic.com/Regi... ) to find out whether a specific game is region free or not. OR... N4G says it is: http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/...
400 million units sold in 2 weeks for Valve's new shooter and L4D is the "Sleeper multiplayer hit this winter!" Little Big Planet, a platformer, sells over 1 million in a month to a smaller installed user base and people are falling all over themselves to call it a flop. Take that for what it's worth.
L4D had much less hype, much lower expectations and still sold well (hence sleeper hit) LBP was hyped to death, had MUCH higher expectations and didn`t do as well as hoped (hence flop)
