NCsoft: ESA Departure Not Financially Motivated

NCsoft has joined the group of companies that have decided to leave industry trade group, the Entertainment Software Association, the game maker confirmed Monday.

But NCsoft denies that the departure is in any way connected to recent cost-cutting measures such as layoffs or the shutdown of the high-profile MMORPG, Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa (pictured).

"The decision was not remotely financially motivated," said NCsoft rep Janna Bureson in an e-mail responding to speculation otherwise.
