Digital Life Review: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

Digital Life writes: "Why settle for one interface when you can have nine? That seems to be the thinking behind the new active panels concept in the X1. Rather than mimic the iPhone's iconic interface, the X1 allows the user to customise the screen to suit their own needs and tastes. Instead of settling on one screen, though, there are nine virtual panels to play with. Some are supplied with the phone while more can be downloaded from the web.

A dedicated "X Panel" button launches the nine panels that are laid out in a neat grid and you simply tap the one you want to use. It's easy to switch between different screens for different purposes.

However, if you're the type who struggles to get your head around even one interface, nine might be considered a nightmare. It can get a bit laggy in response when the panels are starting up, too. The fancy 3D animations sometimes stutter when transitioning between screens."
