Shouldn’t be hard considering PS5 is an amazing console and has great first party games to back it up.

Keep it going this is my 5th PlayStation and haven't been disappointed so far. Only thing I really wish for is some sort of BC for ps3 games because to me that's when Sony as a underdog went to work and really showed it's quality and grit

And by end of this generation I would love if few of the Japanese publishers were acquired (Square enix, Capcom and Sega(2 out of these 3 would work) I know this may not be a popular opinion but that's just the way I feel long term investment wise Sony needs PlayStation to do well for them as a company to do well and acquiring these will go towards helping them dominate. Invest some money in acquisitions grow the internal studios

Housemarque and bluepoint should have been done by now(HM almost went out of Business before getting the opportunity to work on AAA game)

Make PlayStation stronger

DVAcme1063d ago

If Sony were to buy a Japanese AAA developer, make it Konami.

neutralgamer19921063d ago

I don't have any inside information I am just a gamer and these are my opinions.
These are my predictions based on my gut feeling and I could be 100% wrong

I think Sony already has rights to MGS and Silent Hills. They have yet to announce just because those games could be further out. It would not surprise me if blue point games were remaking the original metal gear solid and kojima doing PT behind the scenes

I don't think they're interested in selling because they have those pachinko machines they make their money from. I think the two more realistic ones are square enix and Capcom. Sega is possible too but Sega has lot of outside the gaming investments within Sammy Sega

I don't know why but I think square enix is already in works and will be announced soon. They are doing a lot of PlayStation exclusives and even FF7 remake has remained an exclusive after launching on ps4.

Imagine around E3 time if Sony were to announce square enix, blue point and housemarque that would be a epic day in gaming. But the most likely scenario is they were just announced it using the Playstation blog like they did with insomnia games. Sony is very business like with these announcements. Xbox made a huge showing announcing the acquisitions

CBaoth1063d ago (Edited 1063d ago )

I don't get the acquiring a publisher bit. All three are already making IPs for the PS ecosystem. The only thing to gain by doing so is to prevent those IPs from appearing on your competitors, a la MS-Bethesda deal. If we're talking publishers, why not Konami? A bunch of high profile IPs lying dormant that appeal to the PS base? Acquire HM, Bluepoint, Kojima, and Konami's assets. Put BP on MGS collection remake, Kojima on Silent Hill, and HM makes a new Contra game. Outsource Castlevania to Team Cherry as a second party developed IP and resurrect the franchise.

Now if we're going for petty, then Capcom out of the 3 makes the most sense. Their IPs have the most Western appeal and keeping Monster Hunter off Nintendo and RE off MS platforms, respectively, does make some financial sense. But does it make enough to offset the worth of these IPs to acquire them only to restrict them to one platform?

"Their IPs have the most Western appeal and keeping Monster Hunter off Nintendo and RE off MS platforms, respectively, does make some financial sense. But does it make enough to offset the worth of these IPs to acquire them only to restrict them to one platform?"

The answer to that is to release them on PC too. Sony seems to be steering towards releasing their IP on PC going forward so it's very likely that part of those potential acquisition deal(s) would be to release games on PC at some point.

Atticus_finch1063d ago

This already feels like the beginning of an amazing Generation. And Ps4 at $199 before holidays would sell extremely well.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get a PS5/Xbox Series X in 2022 when stock catches up where I can actually buy it in a store as opposed to fighting scalpers for limited stock.
(I still don’t believe people are getting these new systems from retail without either paying a scalper or using a bot account to buy stock.)
This generation of gaming is not starting off good for the majority of people trying to get a PS5/Xbox Series X/New PC GPUs.
I can only hope this generation gets extended a bit longer to account for the lost time people couldn’t get this new hardware at launch.

LuminousBlaze1063d ago

Got mine from Wal-Mart. No way in hell am I paying scalpers. I wish we could pass legislation to get rid of them.

Orbilator1063d ago

I believe it's coming in the uk

annoyedgamer1063d ago

That would create a whole new set of problems.

Kavorklestein1063d ago

@annoyed
What problems exactly, would passing laws to prevent people from scalping cause?

Douchebags would have problems making extra cash?

That's the kind of problem we WANT them to have.

neutralgamer19921063d ago (Edited 1063d ago )

I luckily got one from Amazon it's pure luck man. First it kept saying sold out and I kept pressing add to cart and it did somehow

But ever since than no luck. My nephew needed one and my sister told me last second I paid $900+ for ps5 with one extra controller and 2 games(guy I bought from said this was his 21st-22nd ps5 he has sold and he gets them steadily all the times) I know it's covid and all but come on man these companies can definitely figure out a better way

Take our pre orders and put us in a que even if it takes 6 months they know they got our sale and we know we will get our system when it's our turn

Shouldn't be this difficult and anyone who thinks prices are high now just wait till this holiday season. I believe supply will be limited and demand will be much higher so get ready to see some crazy prices

northpaws1063d ago

Me and my brother both ordered two the day it was announced, one for ourselves and one to friends that missed the pre-order.

I know the quantity was very limited, but when you want something hard enough, you just gotta keep trying non-stop, I checked all online retails and forum the minute the pre-order date was announced. And have all accounts logged in, credit cards number updated, shipping address updated, so I can check out in seconds. Not trying to rub it in, just see many people complain they couldn't get one when they basically just causally walk into a random Walmart once every two weeks and say it is hard to find.

Anyways, good luck hunting, don't give up.

svoulis1063d ago

I feel this! Literally the moment they announced the PS5, I put savings away for 2 of them (one for me, and one for my fiancé). I watched the presser when they announced the pre-order date, and immediately sat at my PC on multiple websites trying to get the consoles. I was successful but it took me about 4 hours total of trying. I feel like people who really want the system will put in the effort to try and get them. My friend also got his PS5 a few months ago, by luck he saw the stock alerts on twitter and nailed one from Best Buy.

PS5 needs a Japan publisher than gg no re.

Turned based Phantasy Star and Shinning Force remain at the top of my list of Sega IPs that need to return. At the very least I'd take a Shining Force collection that has 1,2,3, CD and the Game Gear entries.

FinalBoss4d ago

I was hesitant to put these two on. I've personally played more PSO than the RPG version. And shame on me, I don't remember much about Shining Force to talk about it properly.

That said, so many Sega licences deserve their place in this list.

jznrpg1d 22h ago

A new Phantasy Star in the numbered series would be amazing. Shining Force too. But I’d settle on some collections as that’s probably the best we will get

anast3d ago

I don't trust Sega to do a proper comeback. The games will be just remastered and/or monetized to death.

gold_drake3d ago

shining force.

but indont see that happening unfortunately.

Former Blizzard President Suggests Players Should Have Option to Tip Developers

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently suggested an interesting concept that has sparked a debate among gamers - the idea of being able to tip developers after completing a game.

LG_Fox_Brazil10d ago

If I had a 100% way to be sure that this money would go to a fund or a reserve dedicated only to the guys who develop the games, be them designers, artists, programmers and so on, I could think about it.

But we all know that this 'tip' would only end up in a publisher's CEO pocket to buy a new yacht, so, no, I ain't tipping anyone anytime soon on this industry

neutralgamer19929d ago

Exactly these companies were raising money for good causes and gamers were donation and come to find out they are keeping a good chunk of be pie

PapaBop9d ago

Yeah tip your developer, 5% proceeds go to developer, 95% to the publisher or whoever. Isn't tipping for staff not making minimum wage? How about they just pay their developers properly and like you know, give them fair bonuses? Too much to ask from Blizzard these days, Kotick saw to that and is now laughing all the way to the bank.

MrDead9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

It's the t**ts at the top looking at ways to cut devs wages and get the players to tip them like waiting staff, and I'll guarantee a percentage is skimmed and kept by Activision Blizzard. This is 100% for shareholder and CEO playouts.

Popsicle9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I have to agree with this. On the surface tipping devs sounds like a great idea, but in the end it leads to pay cuts and subsidization of pay. Tips then become an expectation or the devs “can’t make a living.” Lastly, especially in the US, tip culture has gotten out of control, and it serves as an excuse not to properly pay employees. Sounds good but doesn’t end well.

drizzom8d ago

@ Popsicle

I think your right on the nose with how much tipping has become rampant. Instead of it being a relationship directly between the customer and the developer or employee, it now has a middle man ingrained in the system. DoorDash is one example. It ends up becoming a metric where the company can measure 'just how much more money you are willing to part with' before raising the price on the main product.

1Victor9d ago

Uh so they’re trying triple dip or more we buy the game that they’re already withholding/cutting content for dlc we was told that season pass would help the developers thrive we felt for it.
Now on top of all that plus their sales bonus they want tips enough is enough whatever happens to you create/built a good game get a bonus for sales milestones you care about your game and community we reward you with more sales not for doing 3/4 of a game then save the other 1/4 for dlc and passes after

raWfodog9d ago

The 'tip' is me buying your game in the first place.

S2Killinit9d ago

Very well said. If it was possible to send the money to either the developer or some organization for the betterment of gaming, sure. But we all know that will not be the case.

Rynxie9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

No, it would go to those on the top. They will still fire developers, have a bunch of microtransactions, raise prices of games and so on.

So they eventually don't pay their workers and depend on our tips to pay them like the case with waiters!

Deeeeznuuuts9d ago

That kind of practice is only normal in the states, as far as I know anyway, what a backwards system

H99d ago

No it's as well in a every country that wants to amercanize

bloop9d ago

Ireland is literally the first stop across the pond and we don't have a tipping culture. The only establishments here that would expect a tip are the tourist haunts that Americans visit. Other than that, you might tip in a restaurant as a sign of gratitude for great service and waiting staff would be paid a full wage anyway.

Rebel_Scum9d ago

Tipping is not customary iin most countries dude. Get a passport lol.

Jin_Sakai10d ago

Is this a joke? How about the big wigs giving up some of their pay for their hard working developers.

MrBaskerville9d ago

Maybe the CEO could earn his money based on tips.

mastershredder10d ago

good god. The devs are not baristas dude. Total 1% ideals. Fing Chadosaurus.
